![Batman: The Complete Television Series [DVD] [1966]](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/91eOWRjxUvL.jpg)

All 120 episodes from the 1960s live action series following the DC Comics superhero. Vigilante Batman (Adam West) and his sidekick Robin (Burt Ward) fight crime in Gotham City and attempt to bring down villains such as the Riddler (Frank Gorshin/John Astin), the Penguin (Burgess Meredith), the Joker (Cesar Romero) and Catwoman (Julie Newmar/Eartha Kitt). In the third series the dynamic duo are joined by Batgirl (Yvonne Craig), who helps them in their ongoing battle against crime. Review: Daft - But You'll be Hugely Entertaned By This Sixties Slug Fest! - Baby boomer's revenge: when the 'Batman' TV series first aired on UK screens back in 1966, being seven years old, of course I wanted to watch it. When I asked my dad if we could tune in, his response was "I'm not watching that bl##dy American rubbish!" So, I only got to see a few episodes, when he wasn't in, or he there wasn't anything else on the other side. They repeated the series in the mid-seventies, and I got to see more of them then. In truth, when I was young, I didn't like the series; I was a Marvel comics fan, and much preferred Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four and The Incredible Hulk. Anyway, fifty-two years later, I shelled out for the Complete TV series on DVD, and like a child, I gorge myself on the contents. Back in the sixties, the series was broadcast in black and white in the UK; the vivid, day-glo colours and the fantastic, straight-faced acting of Adam West , against the over-the-top acting of the villains- which range from the manic cackling of the brilliant Frank Gorshin's Riddler, Cesar Romero's The Joker, the wonderful George Sanders in 'schweinhund' German mode as Mr Freeze, and the sexy Julie Newmar as Catwoman make for a very amusing and entertaining watch. There's also performances by not-so-famous (to UK audiences, at least) such as David Wayne as The Mad Hatter, Victor Buono as King Tut, Milton Berle as Louie the Lilac, and Malachi Throne (great name!) as False Face add to the overall feel of sixties wackiness on display here. Over half a century later, the show has charm in abundance, and the humour has worn well. The bright colours are reminiscent of those of the comics, and its refreshing to watch compared to the grimness of 'The Dark Knight' series of recent years. Review: Zoom, zapp, pow!!!!!!!! - Great! Great! Great! Great iconic sixties series! Adam west will always be the best batman ever! A great batman box set! Full of extras, and all 120 episodes of the series in glorious colour and vision! Plus a booklet which features an episode guide of every episode! What possibly more could a batman fan want? Its so great to see this great series again, and all the terrific villains, everyone has their favourite, and mine is Catwoman, and my favourite actress to play her is Eartha kitt, who really did ooze feline powress. But Julie newmar is also great. Its just all fabulous slapstick fun! And the fight scenes with the villains are just classic! All that pow, clunk and zapp! The picture quality is so impressive! So sharp and clear! Seeing the batmobile driving through Gotham city in fabulous colour and sharp picture quality is breathtaking! Also its such an iconic scene! This is a must have for batman fans! Do not delay! Buy today! You will be thrilled to bits! The 1966 movie is also superb! The original sixties batman and robin! No one can ever do it better, and rip Adam west, our true, classic batman! Super Memories, Super Villains, Super Fun
Loved the series in the 1960s and the recent death of Adam West brought back reminders. Had previously been put off buying this as it was so expensive, however it now an affordable luxury and brings many hours of happy memories. Sound and picture superb, nice booklet accompanying the discs and great to watch the gorgeous Julie Newmar again as the deadly Catwoman! "Whats the matter Alfred?" "Sir, it's the Batphone" dinner dinner dinner dinner, dinner dinner dinner dinner Batman....

Holy Battastic
I loved it as a child and I love it now. Every single episode, lots of extras and fantastic quality. 120 episodes and 18 discs for less than £50! I'm sure anyone who grew up with this version of Batman will love to see it again. It now seems more of a spoof than it did at the time (although that may just be me getting older) but it is none the worse for that and, as such, has worn really well. whether it will appeal to people who have grown up with a more grim-faced conflicted character I do not know. I would say give it a chance, any good literary character is open to different interpretations and a splendid time is guaranteed for all.
