I have this and a lens cap type WB tool - there is a massive difference in the 2 readings? grey card is always very warm - Why??

These cheap cards aren't particularly accurate. It may sound simple but creating an accurate WB card isn't easy, especialy if trying to create a neutral grey. The grey card I got from Anwenk is too blue (versus the more accurate Passport Color Checker and Expodisk references). It's colour temperature is around 500 Kelvin out. If I use my Anwenk Grey card for WB, then the corrected pictures are too yellow (warm).

It says waterproof, so are they plastic? I want to use them when scuba diving.

What are the L a b values of these cards?

I don't know what the L a b values are but I found that these cards are noticeably different to my expensive Passport Color Checker targets (which I trust). In a single test image of the Anwenk grey and white cards next to my Passport Colour Checker, taken in daylight, I got the following eyedropper WB temp and tint corrections in Adobe LR. Anwenk White 4900K -9, Anwenk Grey 5050K +3, Passport 4600K +8 Verdict: low cost and cheerful, but not so accurate... NB. I bought mine in 2019 so things may have changed, although I notice from the 1 and 2 star reviews others have seen similar. I returned mine for a refund.
