quality, thats the secret
I was impressed by the obvious quality of this product, the individual mounting pieces as well as the shocks themselves.Went on exactly as described in their (and many other) videos plus came with well designed instruction sheet for the less online leashed amongst us.The only thing I would stress about the installation is to get a proper rivet gun for the install. I had a pair of them so figured I was golden, only to note the supplied rivets are 3/16" STEEL rivets, and lesser rivet guns (like I was using) only support aluminum rivets in that size. A side trip to the local "hardware" store revealed they too only had lesser guns, so I decided to press on with what I had at hand.My rivet gun managed to do about 4 of the 8 rivets OK, but on the others the rivet compressed just fine, however the rod that is supposed to be cut off at the base of the rivet by the tool would not cut, no matter how many times I repositioned the gun on the rivet. I had to get out the hacksaw and carefully remove the excess material, but the real solution is to get a gun that is up to the task, probably the very one they recommend right there in the instructions!Despite that glitch, everything went together well and when I popped the struts onto the mounts it was a miracle, that heavy heavy metal hood (do they line it with lead, or what?) is now a breeze to open and close.Excellent valving too: when closing it doesn't just slam down, it goes to a point and slowly stops, allowing you to easily push it down to close; same going up, the initial travel is quick but then it slows as it approaches full open and brings the hood to a smooth stop at the top of its travel. Very nice detail that I gather a lot of makers of similar products miss.Getting back to the rivet situation for a moment, if you are developing arthritis or other malady, I would advise taking some Advil or similar before attempting to compress and trim the rivets. Maybe a bigger gun would have helped, but as it was it was pretty painful getting those rivets set. But they do look and feel very sturdy, being steel rivets I would expect them to be quite strong. All in all, an excellent product, at least so far, lets see what happens over a year of use, but all signs point to a durable superior system for keeping your Taco's hood from breaking your back and not having to rely on that static prop rod. Money well spent in my book!

Quality Hood Supports/Lifters. Good Installation Instructions.
I installed these on my 2021 Tacoma TRD Off-Road in 90 minutes, taking my time. The hood lifters handle the weight of the Tacoma hood and they function perfectly, aiding in lifting the hood and keeping it raised at the fully open position. They also provide assistance when closing the hood by supporting the weight as the hood is being lowered. The included installation instructions are well-written, clear, thorough and easy to follow, and they include quality step-by-step photos in color. Before you begin the installation process, be sure you have all the necessary tools, supplies, etc., such as:> All Parts & Instructions Provided by Redline Tuning> Drill> 3/16" Drill Bit> Fine or Ultra Fine Point Permanent Marker> Masking Tape> Electrical Tape (used to mark drill depth on drill bit)> Tape Measure> Hammer & Center Punch (an automatic center punch is also helpful to make the initial punch)> Touch Up Paint> Rivet Gun, Heavy Duty for Use With Two Hands, Capable of 3/16" Rivets> Sufficient Lighting> A Helper (not required, but another person is helpful to assist with the installation)Some Advice:> Take your time with the installation.> Protect the fenders from getting scratched/damaged by covering them with towels, blankets, heavy sheets, etc.> Measure twice or thrice before using the punch and drilling holes.> Use the touch up paint to coat bare metal after drilling holes.> Test the installation and operation. Ensure the hood opens and closes all the way with no binding.> After the installation, take inventory of all tools, supplies, parts, etc. to ensure no foreign objects are left behind in the engine bay.

Nice!
The media could not be loaded. Refreshing not to lift the hood again and again on my 2023 Tacoma.. these work really well, have to give it a slight push up once you pop open your hood to get it going, but it holds well and pulls down just fine! The passenger side does lift a bit quicker than the driver side, but not by much.. it did become more prominent over a couple of days, but that was probably me not getting the measurements 100% identical, but I highly recommend installing these!

They work
Nice. Quality struts, easy install. Make opening the hood so much easier. Just be careful with the clips...if you drop one, they're hard to find

I like em
Easy install except for the rivets. Most of the rivets broke off were the rivet gun grips the pin. So I had to cut the pins off with a cutoff wheel. Otherwise we’re talking about a five star purchase.
