Tamplin's best album
Tamplin's eponyous sopohmore album is easy their strongest offering as a band. The band is extremely polished on the album, and Ken's vocals standout throughout the entire offering. The main problem for Tamplin was, this was released in 1993, not 1989.The overall sound of "Tamplin" is undeniably melodic rock, with the typical overproduction Ken Tamplin is known for. This in itself is one of the issues I have with Ken Tamplin. The dude is major talented, but he sometimes overproduces his albums to take away any of the rawness of the rock sound. That small issue aside, "Tamplin" is a pretty solid slice of melodic rock music, and one can imagine most of these songs being radio hits in a different year. My favorite tracks from the album were "Dancing on a Volcano," "Testify," "Don't Let the Sky Fall on Me" and "In the Lap of Legends". The rest were good enough, but these caught my ear the most. This is easily Ken Tamplin's best solo album, overall. Ken's other albums aren't terrible either, but this self-titled album seems like all the stars were aligned for it to be his most concentrated effort. While a Christian artist, Ken Tamplin never really shoves it in your face. Which is good for the people that don't prefer the religious aspect of his music, it doesn't bother me, but I know it would some listeners.

TAMPLIN (ST) ~ Excellent !
This is another excellent solo release from Ken Tamplin from 1993, featuring 11 tracks, all of which have Tamplin's mark on each one. There is never a doubt as to who the artist is on each track. Ken is all about great lyrics, great vocal techniques, and soulful guitar playing. This one, along with "An Axe To Grind", and "Wake The Nations" (KT and friends) and other solo releases should be in everyone's collection.

Tamplin
This is a great CD and probably better than his first two, with more of a hard rock feel to it. Now if your new to Ken Tamplin, then I would recommend his first two albums and a band he was with, called Shout. Overall this is a great CD and I would recommend this.

New fan
Ken Tamplin is one of those guys who can sing anything. I hadn't heard of him before but when I had my first listen I had to hear more. Ken has soulful vocals but he can also sing great rock songs. Tamplin is always in good company with musicians and every release is simply excellent.

Excellent!
Ken Tamplin is an amazing guitarist and vocalist. His vocals are soulful and at times bring to mind shades of David Coverdale. Guitars are front and center in his music. His lyrics are up front and positive. His style is his own. However, if you like Hagar-era Van Halen, Whitesnake and other 80's metal you'll find comfort in this disk.First gaining poplularity in the 80's Christian Metal Band Shout, Tamplin has gone on to release dozens of albums. On this disk you will find gritty rock and roll from the very first track. "Dancing on a Volcano", "Testify", "Don't Let the Sky Fall on Me" and "In the Lap of Legends" are each spectacular in their own right. Check this disk out. You will love it.
