Halfway between a game of traditional Playing Cards and something like Love Letter..
My wife loves games you play with a traditional deck of cards, and I love deck builders and games like Love Letter (okay, she likes Love Letter too), but often we are at odds because I'm always in the mood for the latter and the former bores me. This is a nice compromise. Based on the item page I thought this was a game with every card having powers (like Love Letter, Brave Rats, etc) but no, some of the cards are just regular playing cards of a suite. Since there are only three suites and the suites are simplified the game has to be very well balanced to pull this off and it does. Gameplay is easy to learn smooth, and enjoyable. It's a little tricky to figure out if you want to win or lose every hand but that's where the strategy comes in (is the other player letting you win or trying to beat you?). You are supposed to play for a certain number of points/rounds but you can just play one round if you feel like it or keep playing if you're having fun, and that's a nice feature. I love the artwork but I just wish there was more of it or way I wish the unusual art was played up a bit more (the young girl wood-cutter was my favorite). Likewise I like the theme, I just wish there was more (maybe a complete story of some sort that playing the game helps to tell?). As it is, the 75% greatness of this game that feels a little incomplete is solidified by the fact that it's well balanced, high quality, and CHEAP. If the price were higher I would subtract a few points based on the fact that the game could be fleshed out a little, but at this price it's a steal. Grab it and enjoy along with Lost Cities and Guillotine.

Love it!
I like this game way more than I thought I would and the art is awesome. I have a soft spot for simple/classic type card games and this adds a whimsical element. It is so easy to learn as well. This has been a go-to game for brewery nights. Just try it!

Perfect two player game.
Got this as a gift for my sister and her husband. They love it! Great mix of fun and strategy. And the artwork is beautiful. Perfect two player game.

A fun little game with good replay value
This is a fun little game for two people. It's well-made and has great art. There's a decent amount of strategy involved—deeper than, say, Euchre, but nothing too complex. When it comes to the strategy, it's more of a "reacting" game than a "planning" game—you react to the cards you have in your hand and what your opponent plays vs having a plan from the start—this can be good or bad, depending on the person. Overall, my fiancee and I have played several times since buying it and we continue to enjoy it. It's not so compelling that you want to play it over and over again, but as far as $15 two-player games go, it's pretty solid.

A very nice two-person game
I play a lot of games and I'm always seeking a good travel game to play with my partner. I'm impressed with this one. It packs small, which is nice for travel, but more importantly the mechanics are fun. It's easy to learn, especially if you are familiar with trick taking, but the tactical choices make it interesting. It holds up after repeat play. Like most good games, when lose you want to play again because you think you can do better. The game designer should be proud of this one.

Great game for two, it's kindo of like euchre, fast and fun!
This is an awesome game. It reminds me of euchre because there's a trump card (they call it a decree card). All the odd cards have certain powers. For instance playing a 3 card allows you to change the trump card. Play an 11 (the highest card) and your opponent must play a 1, if she doesn't have a 1 then she must play her highest card in that suit (there are only 3 suits). Taking a 7 in any trick gets you 1 point. Any 9 played is automatically a trump card. The wild part of the game is take 0-3 tricks and you get 6 points, 4 gets you 1 point, 5 gets 2 points, 6 gives you 3 points, 7-9 tricks gives you 6 and 10-13 gives you 0 POINTS (you were too greedy). It's fun to make your opponent take that 10th trick which takes them from 6 points to 0, while you sit there with 3 tricks and get 6 points ! The game only last till 21 points. No need for paper there are tokens with 1, 3, and 6 on them. The game also gives you 2 reference cards so you can remember what each card does and how many points there are for each number of tricks. You'll want to play over and over again. Pretty soon you remember all the cards and you won't need the ref. card. Super game for two loads of fun esp. if you are a fan of euchre. Fast and fun.

Fast-paced and fun 2-person strategy game with unique scoring system
Really fun "trick" card game for two! I took a chance on this right before a weekend camping trip with my wife, knowing we would have some time to kill. It is pretty easy to learn, and there's a lot of replay value thanks to card actions and the the unique scoring system. I particularly like how you can win the game in the long run if you intentionally lose rounds! That makes for some interesting strategizing, but without making things overly complicated. Highly recommend!

Interesting concept but not all that fun
First off, the artwork on these cards is absolutely gorgeous. However, the game itself is not all that fun. The rules are simple enough, but the game takes a bit of strategy. The game plays similar to euchre, but you don't want to win all the hands. Additionally, winning no hands also rewards players with the maximum points, which seems weird. After a month, we have only played this game once. It plays fast, and can be finished in about 10 mims. I would reccomend this game for someone who enjoys complicated trick taking games, but its not a great way to pass the time in my opinion
