Zar 33012 Semi Gloss Interior Ultra Polyurethane - One Quart

I have been using Varathane products to do various staining and clear poly applications in my ongoing remodeling efforts. It has performed well. But now I am in my kitchen, I did the cabinets with the same Varathane stain and poly, American Walnut and Satin Clear. Both oil based.But now I am building an island and want a butcher block top, not a functional one, I want it clear coated. So I went with a Cherry stain. Also did a bunch of reading in forums about the best clear coat for a countertop application. And the popular consensus was Zar, by far it was mentioned more than any other brand for durability and application ease.Well let me say I am super impressed. It went on extremely easy, it's self leveling properties work great. Brush strokes just disappear as it dries. And it dries fairly fast, 2 hours. I applied two coats, second coat at 2 hours after the first. Waited about 4 or 5 hours. Sanded it with 320 grit paper to remove any small bumps, trapped dust, etc.Then applied my third coat after wiping down with a tack cloth. It is now like glass. I would highly recommend and I will purchase it again for other projects.

I have always used Zar when I've refinished furniture. I use nothing else.

The product was a semi gloss and went on like a high gloss. NO leveling at all. Applied per instructions 2 coats. Did not level surface one bit. Very disappointing.

Very easy to apply with a brush.

If you want a very durable finish then this stuff is for you. This is my second can and will soon need another one. Easy to apply, lasts a long time and most solvents won't harm it.
