Big, heavy duty, versatile vise
I really like this Drill Press vise! It is replacing a similar but smaller vise that didn't have the swivel base, just the top. Even so, I made a lot of drilling operations possible due to its adjustability and the fact that the bolt slots coupled with the slots on the press table enabled me to move it into any position I needed. This one is even better, as the swivel base adds a new dimension of adjustability! I also like the button on top of where the vise screw is attached which allows super-quick tightening and loosening by disengaging the stationary threads so the jaws can be pushed in or out for a rough fit, then the button can be allowed to pop back up to finish the tightening with the screw. That's so much easier than turning the screw about a million times to change the clamping from a smaller item to a much larger item and vice versa.I now have a drill press table accessory, as can be seen in my photos, but I can still adjust the positioning of the vise by sliding it to the required place and holding it down with the clamps and T-tracks. I glued some felt to the bottom of the vise base so that I don't damage the surface of the table.A vise like this isn't limited to a drill press, either, as it can be mounted to a bench top as well. It's a strong, well-made item with an excellent thick paint finish that should keep it in great shape for a very long time. Recommended!

Good vise... but not for the drill press
This vise does not fit nor is made for drill presses, as many other reviewers notes, this listing is misleading! didn't check within the return window and am now stuck with it and have to get a different one specifically for the drill press. It's made like a tank and works great as an additional bench press vise though.

Sturdy and functional. Mounting hardware included.
I was hoping this vice would fit my drill press, but whatever 4 1/4 inches means in a drill press, mine was not large enough.Turns out this vice will be a good addition to the metal working corner of my shop, as a bench top vice. Pictures show installation and the tools required. The provided bolts are 22 mm. 7/8" worked for the socket in my impact wrench. The bore is slightly greater than 1/2". It proved easy to ream out the 1/2" holes in 3/4" plywood. The provided bolts include washers to be used on the top mounting surface. I added 1/2" washers and 5/8" lock washers on the underside of the bench.I decided that I wanted the clamp near the edge of my bench and did not want the crank in my walkway. The quick adjustment button works great and makes this a more feasible choice. The swivel lock nuts are 18mm. Looks like that's where my 18mm wrench is going to be stationed. Not much force is required to loosen and tighten these nuts, but it is more than finger tight. Seems like a stamped out open-end wrench could have been provided. But then, plyers or small vice grips would work well enough. I just clamped an iron bar in the vice and tested the swivel lock. For reasonable applications, it passed. This would not be the vice to use for hammering on things or applying bending forces over, say, fifty foot-pounds. Sawing, drilling, and securing fasteners is what this vice can handle.A welcome addition to my shop.

Not a drill press vise
Actually it's a drill press vise mounted on a rotating base. And with the base on, it isn't usable in a drill press. You cannot center the workpiece without unclamping the assembly, and what's the point then? You can take this thing off the base, and use it like a standard one-axis vise, but then why pay for the base?

Fine Bench Vise doesn't operate as a Drill Press Vise for me
I almost feel like when they were writing out the copy for this product they got drill. Press and bench messed up because this doesn't fit on my drill press, nor on either of the two that my uncle has down in his shop but it does work great as a bench vise so that's what I'm using it as. I mean, if you look at all the pictures in the listing they're showing it used just mounted to a "Bench" and never to a press I'd be interesting in knowing which ones they say this will fit, and in that regard, it works really well. I have it mounted right near the edge of my big work table and it is come in handy when I need to saw or drill into some pipe, hold a board, whatever you would do with a bench vise this thing does. And with that in mind for the price, this thing is fine it is held up through a lot of use over the past few months with no loss of functionality but if you came here, explicitly to buy a drill press vise, I hope you have better luck at fitting it to yours then we had with any of ours.

Way more substantial than I expected. Super heavy duty.
Even the mounting bolts are huge. I have a well-equipped woodworking shop with a radial, floor standing drill press that I have a vice for. I wanted something of medium duty to place in my garage with the smaller press I have in there. I was surprised just how substantial this one is. This one is going in my woodworking shop floor standing press, and the one I have in there now is going in the garage. With a radial drill press you have the option of extending the upper arm, complete assembly forward or backward, as well as being able to tilt the entire head. Now with this swivel vise, all bases are covered. There is pretty much any angle I can't achieve. The serrated teeth mounting face on the jaws are sure to provide a non-slip surface. So securely mounting a round steel pipe is no challenge, let alone square stock. I really like the quick release button, which makes it functional the same way my woodworking bench vise works. It saves you a lot of cranking time when having to reposition it according to varying sized pieces of stock. So, if you are looking for a no-nonsense drill press bench vise this one costs a little more than the cheapies, but they put the difference in the quality, and heft of the product.
