Amazon Basics USB-C to USB-A 3.1 Gen 2 Adapter Charger Cable, Fast Charger, 10Gbps High-Speed, USB-IF Certified, Compatible with iPhone 16/15, iPad, Tablets, Laptops, 3 Foot, Black

I tested this cable using a Samsung 980 Pro Nvme M.2 SSD, using a Sabrent EC-SNVE enclosure. Unfortunately the USB-C to USB-C cable included with that enclosure only gave me USB 2.0 speeds. Screenshot above is using the same gear, but with this Amazon Basics cable.There's not a whole lot else to say about the cable. It's pretty thick and beefy, which is good, and I'm finally getting the speeds I would expect running through a USB 3.1 bus. I'm pretty happy, especially given the sensible price of the cable.

A very reasonable price for a USB 3 Gen2 10gbps cable, but it works very well with my testing (990MB/s read, 980MB/s write). It doesn't look as pretty as the competitor cables and it likes to retain the kinks from the coiling for shipping, but other than that it worked. I expect that leaving it stretched out for a few days will relieve the kinks. Packaged in a no-nonsense biodegradable package with a twist-tie - no other materials. I did not test charging with the cable, only data transfers.=== My current test system-Asus Strix Z490-E system, with 3 Type A Gen2 10gbps and 1 Type C Gen2x2 20gbps ports-Samsung 970 Evo Plus and Samsung 950 Pro (and a few other cheaper drives)-Several Common USBC adapters/enclosures (I can provide exact models if you need the info)-Massive active cooling on the bare boards and drives (no thermal tape in the way, pure high speed air via 2 push-pull 80mm fans positioned around the adapter board and SSD so as to maintain a steady thermal state-Benchmark Software: AS-SSD and CrystalDiskMark for testing - focus in on the sequential block throughput-Wiring: I am not using an external USB hub, just the cable to the adapter/bridge and SSD=== My opinion on USB 3 Gen2 10gbps cablesUSB 2 Gen2 cables are a hit-or-miss technology at this time (TB3 seems to be more consistent, and of course more expensive). I feel that certified cables with the active chips seem to perform better. Shorter cables seem to perform better. The longer the cable (especially over 3ft) the more inconsistency (I have one 6ft Gen 2 cable that works in my system, and have sent back a few others). You can have perfect hardware (several varieties) and an expensive USB Gen2 cable may not perform, while a cheaper 1ft-3ft cable performs just fine. Only an expert in this specific field (USB 3 Gen 2) could shed light on these inconsistency issues. Proper cable shielding is required to obtain 10gbps, and that is stiff and heavy. There is probably no way to hit 10gbps with a very flexible cable. Stiff cables transfer movements to the connector and thus a perfect connector design (both sides) is necessary, else a slight movement will jiggle the cable - no getting around this - so many vendors involved in the average system.=== About MeI am a 30-year+ software developer that has worked with a lot of high-end high-performance hardware. Someone on here submitted a one star for this product not working with an I product which I feel maybe the case. Not the cord. Maybe it is but the end result being I whatever because it's Mac. I received it on time. As soon as I opened it I could feel how it was very similar to the thickness of the original cable that comes with the Samsung T5. Just a lot longer. Especially when you put a review and say doesn't work with ssd's is pretty bold being that the same product as mine and works just fine. Now to continue more specifically to allow similar use, reviewers see if this scenario is right for them. I bought this only to avoid using the Samsung version it came with. I searched months now for a replacement to buy for that just in case from Samsung and no luck. Especially if I could find one that was longer. local shopping and Amazon search to see if it's compatible with the t5 and could not get help so looked hard, and read every detail and found this and it works great for my ps4 pro and the t5. No issues read right up and started playing. Now as I said before. Specifically I use it for again ps4 pro and connected to the t5. So for those who need it for that I would suggest getting it. It's nice to have it aways and safely plugged in and feels durable and thick so I imagine it's going to last. Update 10/30/21. Still working and 4 to 5vdays a week I was switching to monitor on ps4 upstairs and pro on TV downstairs and still no issues.

Cable was able to provide full USB 3.1 Gen 2 speeds to my NVMe SSD enclosure and better transfer speeds when copying files from my phone, which is what I bought it for. I wish it was a little more flexible and available in a slightly longer length, but for the price it's perfect.

tested with a Crucial X9 external USB-C SSD with the included stock cable and performance was identical. I'd say these are good quality cables for sure!

I had bought one of these cables nearly 3 years ago as a spare for charging my phone that came with the then new USB-C connector. It supported the fast charging capabilities of the phone and the AC adapter that came with the phone. Along the way, it became my main charging cable.But I wanted the same capabilities in a spare cable for travel. I have several USB-C cables, and recently got some more, but none of them would support fast charging. In fact, none of them would even support normal charging. The phone said all of my other cables would only “slow” charge. That meant I could actually lose charge while charging if I used the phone.But since this Amazon Basics cable worked, I hoped another one would work. I bought two - and they both provide fast charging for my phone with the appropriate AC adapter.With a portable battery, I get normal charging. That’s okay. That’s still better than what my other cables would do.Yes, the cables are thick and stiff, but that’s what makes them so good. They have the thicker wire that can handle the faster charging.UPDATE: The cable also works well, better than another cable I had, for connecting my phone to Android Auto in my vehicle. The connection seems more secure and less likely to come loose than the other cable. Android Auto starts and remains working better with this new cable.My phone is an HTC U11. I can’t speak for other brands of phones, but these cables are perfect for what I need - the ability to go from 20% to 95% in an hour or so.
