designed for grass of course. Wouldn't think wide leave plants such as wild flowers could get through the narrow slits.

Is this 4 ft by 112 ft?

yes. the dimensions are very accurate.

Will my dogs paws get stuck in it?

I have 4 large dogs and they have not had a problem with getting stuck in it. Do however get the biodegradable stakes to hold it in place. It will blow in a roll with the wind, and the dogs will also move it till the grass starts coming through. Item works well in getting grass to start on slopes.
