My only advice is to replace both fans, even if you have an issue with only one, you have the laptop open anyways. I replaced only one, a month after the second fan had issues and I have to reopen the laptop again which took some time :(

Excellent fans for dell alienware 17 r4, I'm very pleased. Packaging is worrying indeed but if there any damage I assume returning is assured with Amazon.

Wasn't sure if this would be the right replacement for my Alienware fan that decided to become a jet engine (in sound anyway). Fitted perfectly and my machine is quietly doing it's business once again. Quick delievery and well packaged. Would purchase from again.

I was facing lot of issues in Alienware 17 R4 stock fans. This is perfect replacement of stock fans, built is premium for such cost and very low noise on full throttle. Received 5 days earlier than expected.
