Feldherr Foam Set + Token Holder Compatible with HeroQuest (2021) - core Game Box

Note, there are TWO versions of HeroQuest 2021 in the wold now—the box and the trans for the contents were redesigned and the new version is available as of summer 2022. This product only fits the old design, but it's not really as necessary for the new.How to tell the difference: Both boxes contain two "candy trays" for components. The biggest identifying difference is that the old box is thicker than it needs to be and has a cardboard spacer at the bottom. The candy trays really grip the minis to hold them in place (which is part of why this foam is so essential!) The new trays don't hold on nearly so tight, and so they have clear plastic covers to keep everything in its place within the box.Again, this product doesn't fit the new box—but it's widely regarded as essential for the old box.So essential, in fact, that I was afraid I'd break something popping things out and back into the trays if I did so repeatedly. I took out just enough to do my review of the game and put them away until I got the foam. After all, I already had my 1990 minis and a set of extra (and easily obtained at the time I bought them) HeroScape white dice … that was sufficient until I got this.I don't have a new-box-copy of the game, but part of the redesign of the box and trays is that they no longer have a death-grip on the game components, which is why they needed the clear lids.The Feldherr foam came wrapped so that the foam that holds the cards, bits tray, and character sheet pad were in the middle of the stack, but it really needs to go at the bottom of the box. You can see from my pictures just how floppy the foam is with just some minis in it. Put the heavy tray at the bottom of the box and leave it there. It'll be easy to get stuff out of it while it's in the box, and the box will give it necessary rigidity.The minis tray is much lighter (but still a little floppy). This is fine, but it might help to remove it with both hands.When you use this set, you're intended to just toss the cardboard sleeves and the box spacer. I'd rather keep at least one, so what I did was take the three flat foam sheets and stuff them into one of the sleeves. You can tuck the books and board into the sleeve. Doing it this way means the foam pushes the box open by a couple milimeters. The box closes flush if you use it as intended, but I'd rather keep at least one of the cardboard sleeves.The bits tray … it works. It's a 3D printed part, which makes sense in this context so they could make it fit exactly. And the foam is sized so that you can sleeve your game cards if you want to do that. If you plan to make your own cards, they can't be a 100% match for the originals, so I'd recommend doing that. Standard CCG poker-sized sleeves fit.Like I said, if you have the old version of the game box, this is an essential accessory. Not so much for the new version I'm told (which is good because I don't think Feldherr has a new set for that yet).Feldherr does make similar inserts for the Kellar's Keep, Return of the Witch Lord, and Frozen Horror boxes. Sadly for those of us in the US, Amazon doesn't carry those currently—I had to order them from Europe. Hope that changes soon, the Feldherr foam really is very nice to work with!

This is a fantastic idea and exactly what I was looking for. I have spent a lot of time painting all the minis and furniture in the new Hero Quest game and have been struggling to find something that would keep them all from being scratched up, and the plastic they are shipped in is not an option if you want painted pieces to stay nice. Cheers to whoever came up with this and the design, well done.

If you’re reading this review, it’s because you own Heroquest. So if you’re looking for the perfect insert look no further. Removing and replacing miniatures is no longer a chore with these foam inserts which are made specifically to fit the Heroquest box and neatly fits all of the miniatures from the core game, including the dice, player pads, tiles, tokens, etc.

The foam insert is a great design for the new redesigned Heroquest. It fits perfectly in your box to store everything! I like that the box does not bulge up at all which was my biggest concern. It does not support the expansions, only the core set.

The sizing of the feldherr set is absolutely spot on. They fit perfectly in the box, and the figures, cards, dice, etc, all have a nicely organized layout and ample room, but not so much so they bang about in their space.My main complaint is the inserts don’t have any kind of support underneath so they flop over awkwardly from the weight of the minis. This lack of support makes removing the inserts precarious, like handling a raw pizza, and the mini’s constantly feel like they are going to fall out. Now granted this is only an issue when you’re taking stuff out or putting things away, but thats every time you go to play the game.

As others have mentioned, this foam is nearly essential if you have the original 2021 box of the HQ remake. One of my favorite games of all time, I was overjoyed when I received as a gift for Xmas 2021. However, the vacuum formed plastic trays were TERRIBLE and I was afraid I'd break the minis every time I played. I have painted my entire core set, plus sleeved the cards, and this became an "essential purchase" to not damage my painted miniatures. Everything fits perfectly, including the full core deck of cards sleeved. Very happy with my purchase.

For a niche product for a board game, this is it. Great price, great quality, and extremely well put together.You won't have any issues putting your figures away and removing from the box. Fits both models of Hero Quest boxes but it comes with additional covers to fill in the bigger box.I wish I would had bought this set earlier.

This is an absolute must for HeroQuest owners that want to paint their miniatures. The plastic that comes with the game that holds the minis is abrasive and it is extremely difficult to get them out without bending or damaging the soft plastic. This protects your precious minis and keeps them from rolling around in the box. I would buy every variation for all my expansions if the offered them on Amazon!

I previously bought a standard foam spacer set that I had to cut up myself to make the bits fit. This was all I needed to buy really, everything fits and it works with the box. Look no further.

Per me che sono un malato della precisione questo prodotto è fondamentale. Posso posizionare tutte le parti del gioco (sistema di gioco base HeroQuest) in maniera ordinata ed estremamente comodo senza rovinare le miniature. Con la confezione originale, le miniature andavano ad incastro e, ogni volta che necessitavo prenderle, la cosa era difficoltosa con il rischio di piegare e danneggiare le stesse. Con questo ho risolto il problema. Entra tutto perfettamente! Lo consiglio nonostante ritengo sia un prodotto costoso.
