The adapter boosts the audio quality with built in DAC that supports hi res audio format up to 96 KHz/24 bit, and improve the talking quality with ADC that supports 48 KHz/16 bit studio grade recording, so you may also use the adapter as a microphone converter, but please note that the adapter is NOT compatible with dynamic coil microphones. You can effortlessly control music play back or adjust volume with the adapter just like before, but, since the restricted design of apple wired earphones, the volume adjustment will NOT work if you use one with the adapter.
