In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body." Taking the acronym of this phrase, ASICS was founded on the belief that the best way to create a healthy and happy lifestyle is to promote total health and fitness. Today, ASICS offers a full line of performance-driven athletic shoes and technical active sports apparel and accessories dedicated to bringing harmony to the body and soul.

Great Buy!
These shoes are fantastic! The thing you have to remember with all shoes, clothes, what have you, is that not every single one is going to be made the same size. Just like trying on a pair of jeans - you go to one store, try on a 4 and it's too small. You go to another store, try on the same cut/fit in a 4, and they're big. So, when buying shoes, you also have to remember this, and not just tell everyone to not buy them.I've always been a HUGE fan of Asics. I used them my senior year of high school volleyball and loved them (which was five years ago). I bought mine back in September of 2012 for the purpose of Basic Training for the Air Force. I'm naturally a heel-to-toe runner, so I develop shin splints quite easily. These are made for high-impact, which is what you get when you run like I do. They were very easy to break in, and were incredibly comfortable. I got them in the plain white, as to avoid attention when I arrived to Basic Training, and to hopefully keep them (if you know anything about AF BMT, then you'll understand =]). For your first week and a half of Basic Training, you wear your sneakers, even with your ABU's. I needed something that would withstand that, PT, and be comfortable. These were the shoes.I went two months before I shipped out wearing these, running anywhere from 2 miles to 4 miles a day, 6 days a week. Then, in Basic Training, we ran 3 out of 6 PT days a week, for a minimum of 30 minutes - normally 40ish. They lasted me the whole time I was there, and they were brilliant.My advice - if you're looking for a running shoe that's cheap, but doesn't sacrifice quality, this is it. Heck, the Air Force even sells Asics at Basic Training, while not these exact ones. You can't go wrong with a pair of Asics, ever. Even if you're using them for their namesake - volleyball - you'll still be happy you got them. Lightweight, affordable, comfortable, and durable!

Super Comfortable
Great sneakers! Super Comfortable. Stylish, light, and great value.Shoes provide great arch support and feel very comfortable on my feet. Of course, Amazon shipped product in excellent time.I bought these shoes on sale at Amazon and am glad I did. Some other comments mentioned to purchase a size smaller; that was not the case for me. Shoes fit my normal size.I bought these sneakers for cross training and, so far, they are up to the task.

+++ As advertised and reviewed
Excellent quality. Just as all the reviews have noted, great beginner volleyball shoe for girls. I followed the review suggestion to order 1/2 size larger and it was perfect. The side walls are stiff for support and the shoe seems regularly narrow. If you have wide feet, you might want to upgrade the size or find another wide shoe. Very pleased with the product!

Too narrow
I wanted to love these sneakers because they SHOULD have been comfortable; the GEL® cushioning system is nice even just for walking or light jogging. The sneakers themselves are incredibly stiff and very narrow, and I have been unable to break them in no matter what tricks I've tried. They're just too uncomfortable. I am a 6.5, but ordered a 7 as I usually do with ASICS. I love the brand, but this particular model of sneaker is just too narrow (and I don't have wide feet!) All in all, it's a very weird construction.

Good for rec play
Good enough for the rec league I play in, no slipping on gym floor at all. Really just feel like regular gym shoes I guess. Kind of tight though, if you have wide feet you might have an issue. Also, they definitely run small, I usually wear an 8.5 or 9, after reading other reviews I ordered a 9.5 and they fit perfectly.

Perfect for Pickle ball
We just started playing pickle ball a few months ago and didn’t realize that using running shoes was a hazard. Got these and my game improved immediately. Fit good and comfortable.

FAKE, FAKE, FAKE!!!
I never realized that Amazon could sell knock-offs. In any case, I just got another brand new pair of Asics from a respectable retailer and the difference is HUGE. These shoes do NOT fit well, there are weird pressure imbalances, the shoes has a strong chemical odor. See the difference for yourself: compare the Asics stripe design on this pair of those to any REAL Asics shoes from the Asics website and you will see that these shoes are fake! You can see differences in the sole design as well. I will be returning this. If something is too good to be true (the price), it is!
