A nice addition to smart lock that needs improvement
Overall it's quite a nice product, allowing you to control locks remotely and integrate with smart home systems like Alexa. Unfortunately, it's not without flaws. Two main fallbacks for me are: 1) the first issue is connectivity. At first, I was unable to connect to my home network, but I know a lot of such IoT stuff only uses 2.4 GHz, so I split my 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks. After that, the bridge connected, but it still loses connection from time to time. It automatically restores it after some time (I didn't measure, but it's usually more than 20 minutes before I can see the gateway back in the app), but it's quite annoying. Of course, I have other options to get in, but it should not be your main way to unlock the lock if you don't want to be disappointed. Luckily, the fingerprint sensor is usually working quite well; 2) this thing comes with a USB A to USB C cable to be powered on, but there is no power adapter. Thanks, Apple, for setting this trend, unfortunately, it means you need a socket with USB A or to use some adapter. Not nice for its price.

Top support yet again
My gateway stopped working a while back, I never really noticed with all that's going on in the world and my life. 3 days ago I got around to looking at it and discovered that it was not powering up, tried 4 different power supplies but nothing would get it to turn on. Messaged Simpled on their WhatsApp number and explained, next day they asked me a couple of questions and gave some ideas but nothing worked. 2 days later a new one arrived, took under 2 minutes to set up. Only have to send the old one back in a pre paid envelope and it's all finished. Cannot fault Simpled support, absolutely brilliant.

Terrible - simply doesn’t work.
Whereas the door handle is and has been excellent in the time we’ve had it, I’ve now had 2 of these G2 gateways - the second purchased in the hope I’d just had a faulty one first time round. I quite liked the idea of being able to remotely unlock my front door, or perhaps more gimmicky, ask Alexa to do it for me. To put it simply, these just do not work. The second one just as bad as the first one. They will not connect to my WiFi, and I’ve even turned off both 5ghz bands on my Asus router setup to just leave the 2.4ghz band (which it asks for in the set up). It just keeps timing out and saying operation failed. I’m fairly tech savvy and have quite a lot of smart home devices. Not had any such issues when other devices. This is the worst item I’ve purchased, which is a shame given how good the door handle is. It’s just not fit for purpose. These are cheaply built devices with I imagine poor WiFi chips inside. They are certainly not worth £50 unfortunately.
