Impressive, simple, back saver.
Pleasantly surprised with the ease of a simple tool. I doubted the short length would be noticeable for easing back stress as others have claimed - until I used it today! That extra foot of not having to bend down to hoist a log truly made a difference. I wish the handle were a bit grippier, but I’ll either rough sand it or wrap it in a grip tape. I was able to easily pick up 6-10” logs and they lifted with less effort and stuck to the log. I noted some people advised to hone the claw points sharper but it worked just fine as is. I did oil the hinge pins/grommets so they opened easily. The finger pull to release the log worked adequately but I found that simply setting the log down to unweight it worked. I had to pull on the release trigger to keep it from clamping back down. As suggested by another arborist, I bought two and it does help lift 5’ long log sections which are typical when we’re doing clearing work. After using this tool, I wish I’d bought it sooner.

Easy to use - works very well.
It’a super easy, the tongs are lose enough you just sort of drop oton the log the pressure open the jaws, you list up and you got it. Sometimes with small stuff you have to bind it a little. I dug 50 maybe 60 cut limbs and split wood out of the snow and ice and didn't have to get my hands wet and cold. Stacked them nicely and didn'trouch a single piece! The ones that were frozen hard to the ground I had to knock lose with my pickeroon. Pickeroon not the best on frozen wood. These tongs are great. Doesn't take long to get the hang of it. I do wish they were a little bit bigger, looking at Bacho next time but the are more$$$. Tongs worked so good I want a set for each hand.

Sharpen it''!!!!!
I liked this tool for many of the reasons stated-ergonomics, ease of use, the scabbard worked better than I hoped. What I didn’t like was it seemed almost useless on smooth skinned wood like alder and sour black cherry. So I finally took a file to the teeth and made them very pointed and sharp. Took 10 minutes. It improved the capability tremendously! It should never encounter a hard surface, given the teeth orientation, so wear won’t be an issue. It really saves the back, as I have at least 3 cord to split and stack. This tool should be sold sharpened to a point, as I don’t see the downside. It made the tool 5 stars for me. For what its worth……

X 2 = Edward Log Tong Hands
Before purchasing, I read a few of the reviews on the product. Most people had very positive things to say about these tongs. One reviewer said that they were disappointed in the assembly/quality of the device. They stated that the hinges in the mechanism appeared as though the rivets had not been pressed tightly enough together and that it felt flimsily assembled (paraphrasing). I disagree. After receiving my own pair and trying them out, I believe that the looseness at the hinge points is a design necessity. The tongs needs to open and close freely without any friction or binding. Gravity should help in their use. The components are fairly small and lightweight, but still quite strong. If they were more tightly assembled, there isn't enough mass there to close them on their own. I've used heavy old iron tongs before, and these ain't them. Although these are small, I was surprised that the WERE in fact able to pick up logs about 12" in diameter. Logs with a rougher bark texture are definitely easier to grab but I found that with some practice and adjustments to my technique, it was possible to more easily pick up smoother and smaller logs down to about 3" in diameter. After allowing the claw to close on the target trunk truncate (log), tilt your wrist forward to force the front hook to bite in. Then lift and the rear claw will do its pinchy thing. For smaller logs, aim the claw off-middle rather than right in the center of the cylindrical segment. Then the tilt of the log will provide a 3rd point of contact within the claw, helping to produce a stronger grip. I will be sharpening up the tips on these things so that they bite even better into a variety of woods. So, after using one pair of these for a day and seeing how much easier it made the work, I decided to purchase a second pair so that both hands could busy - doubling my productivity and balancing out the load on my back and shoulders. And they do.

A fantastic tool for lifting firewood.
what a great help picking up firewood after bucking. I can't believe how much easier these tongs make it. A great back saver. Needs a little sharpening, but very useful device. I bought the 12" tongs, anything bigger and it can barely lift it with one hand. This is a must have item.

Why did i not own one of these YEARS ago????
First I must say, I hate gizmo's. If I'm cutting trees, its usually just shy of a full blown logging operation minus the skidders and trucks. I've honestly looked at these before and thought they'd be fine if I was trimming the bushes with my electric chain saw. I took down a 80'+ Oak (42" stump) and with a BAD back and two joint replacements, I thought a gizmo would be better than nothing. I couldn't be more wrong. This hook was a game changer. In 50 years of carrying logs, I've never used anything that made it as easy as this hook. Some of the logs I could carry (back and my wife didn't think so, but we showed them) and others I could drag (barely) with this hook. not one time did it slip or loose its grip. I will say, you will want to hit it with some WD40 occasionally because it does seen to get a bit still to open back up. But a quick squirt and it worked like a charm. Lastly, do yourself a favor and order two. You'll thank me later. I just ordered a second one because carrying a log with just one " handle" is a bit awkward, whereas with two, carrying a good size log would be a snap, or if you have a helper, both of you have a secure handle, and we all know its NO fun when someone drops their end of something heavy. Amazing tool, but again, get two of them.

Works great
I have 3 different size tongs. This is my smallest. Works best for picking up smaller split wood to put in wood stove. I pick up one piece and put under my left arm and pick up another piece with the tongs an go to wood stove. Saves me time and bending to ground at my age. We'll made as any Fiskars tool.

These reduce back strain in firewood processing far more than I was expecting. I also have a 'LogOx' on order that promises to involve even less bending but these are pretty impressive. I'm mainly stacking pre-split firewood in triangular, square, and half-round shapes - all on the smaller side. Slight quality control issue - I bought two sets - one is super loose and the jaws drop open - the other is tighter and the jaws need to be moved by hand - don't know which is better yet but the fact that they're different is a concern. I might update later when I learn what the implications are.

Possiedo già una tenaglia per tronchi Fiskars che funziona magnificamente fino al diametro di 23 cm. Questa doveva abbracciare fino a 30,5 cm. Invece è identica alla precedente, pur costando un 30% in più. Effettuato reso, l'ho riordinata. Vediamo cosa arriva...
