Dolphin.dyl(TM Replacement Individual Key Cap for US MacBook Pro A1706 A1707 A1708 Key Cap with Hinge (E)

I ordered a replacement keycap and hinge for my A1708 MacBook Pro, and it turned out to be a much more cost-effective and practical solution than replacing the entire keyboard. Installation was fairly straightforward—watching a few YouTube tutorials helped ensure I got the process right.The only downside was that the package didn’t include the key membrane, which I also needed since the original was worn out and the metal cap had detached. It would’ve been great if the membrane was included as part of the kit.Aside from that, everything arrived as described, and I was able to get my keyboard working again. Overall, a solid product!

Great high quality replacement. Keyboard illumination still works. Didn’t end up needing the hinge but it’s good to have on hand just in case.

I was as careful as possible and used tweezers to install the hinge, but it broke with minimal force trying to get the pins in their respective holes. Also, the instructions that came with it said nothing about how to install the hinge. I don't recommend this product if you have to replace your hinge. If I only had to replace the actual key part I probably would've been just fine, which was probably the case for all those who submitted good reviews. I have a shift key replacement coming for my right side as well from this company, but I'll be returning it as soon as it arrives before it breaks too. Just gonna stick with an external keyboard till I can afford a computer upgrade...ugh

Check the serial number on the bottom of your Macbook to see if you have the correct model replacement key. Also don't be ditzy like me and forget to choose the correct letter for the key you need. My "L" key is now an "E" on my keyboard, but I don't type by sight, so no biggie for me. It kind of bugs me, but not enough to go through the hassle of a return. It did arrive a day later than they said, but I'm not gonna take stars off for that...that would be silly. The product itself was easy to install and is attached well.

The replacement was fairly easy and straightforward, but you should know, the key backlight will no longer work. And in my case, the “W” key does work with this replacement, but it takes a slight bit more pressure to activate it.

Broke a hook piece off of one of my Shift key caps while changing them out. It was my fault. Was worried that I'd have to buy a whole new set for just one key cap. Nope. This was available for the correct side and fits compatibly. Feels like the other caps in texture and sturdiness. No complaints.

Cheaper key sets I’ve purchased have flimsy plastic clamps that eventually come loose and require replacement — not the case for the four dolphin.dyl keys I bought. Worth it to me to purchase single keys that actually hold up!

My laptop is almost a decade old, and unfortunately it has the butterfly mechanism. I didn't want to pay some third party service hundreds of dollars to fix it, so I took it upon myself to become an Apple Genius. These keycap replacements are PERFECT. For anyone looking to fix an individual key, these are the ones to get.I did it all myself in the span of twenty minutes, and if I can give any tips, push harder than you think you should - you will hear a firm click when the key itself slots into place, along with the mechanism that holds the butterfly piece (white piece) down. My R key was busted for over two weeks, and now it works flawlessly! (Yay R!) There are plenty of tutorials online if you're looking for specifics on how to fix it, but these parts are identical to standard Apple parts and fit perfectly on my A1706 macbook pro.
