I was eager to try these Whiskey Stones as my son LOVES his water ICE cold. He goes to the freezer 15-20 times a day and each time the ice machine grinds and grinds till his glass is full of crushed ice. I wanted to see if these stones would help keep his drinks cold enough for him. They arrived nicely packaged in a little box with a pouch for storage. I washed them in hot water before the first use and then put them in the freezer for a day. When he started using them he was excited as he's also a bit of a gem and mineral fan so he thought they were cool. They're nice and smooth so there's no risk of scratching up your glasses but I suggest dropping them in gently. They managed to keep the drinks nicely chilled which would certainly be suitable for most people (including me), but for my son it wasn't quite enough. Now he's mixing the stones with ice and that satisfies him. What I like is that it gives a nice weight to the glass and also doesn't water down my drink. I was so excited about this product, but it didn't really work like I expected. I put them in the freezer for a day or 2, and then used them in some room-temperature whiskey. It did not cool my drink to the temperature I expected. It was a little cooler than room temperature but not "ice cold". Then there was my paranoia about the stones breaking or chipping my glasses...which never happened. The other thing I noticed was that I didn't enjoy straight whiskey...it was too strong without the ice. Guess I'm not the whiskey aficionado that I thought I was...

After rinsing the stones, I put them in the pouch and then into the freezer. I had never used chilling rocks before. Rocks being a key point. They are made from soap stone. These are really small but will keep a couple of glasses chilled for the time it takes to drink them.They take up little room in the freezer which was the key point for me. But, and here’s the only problem you need to be aware of, they are rocks. I broke the first glass I put them into not even thinking that they might break it. They are so small and so lightweight. But, this can happen. Put them into your glass gently.This product is great if you have little freezer room.
