You have to touch the circle to turn on - otherwise it is always “off.” Don’t know about an auto shut off if it is left on for long period, if that’s what you mean.....

So this can be hard wired to house current (permanently on) and turned on/off with the button on the front of the mirror? No other switch needed?

Does it safe to clean?

All of the wiring is enclosed. I clean my mirror with window cleaner and it works great. I do get the can that is more of a foam that stays put until you wipe it.
