Can't go wrong buying it.
Works great and I enjoy using it when I need to test equipment.

Well made
Nice unit well made. Does what it says. Functionality: Adjustable sensitivity, and frequency by antenna frequency.

very sensitive
This is a very sensitive filed strength meter, in a nice little case.

SS11 is too sensitive, get the UN-amplified version (SS10) instead
This SS11 amplified meter is too sensitive even when I dial its sensitivity to zero. When testing a radio for transmission, I have to place this meter so far away that I would have to use a remote camera to see what the readings are. Defeats the purpose. Too bad this meter does not work in an UN-amplified mode. I think this option should be added. In the meantime, I suggest getting the UN-amplified version instead (SS10).

Nice quality; English instructions could be better
This only pertains to the SS11 Model. Unit is nicely packaged and well constructed. It is recharged with the included USB charging cord like many electronic items. You simply attached and raise the (included) antenna, place it near an RF field (not too near, however), and turn it on. The point is to use this to make relative measurements, so calibrated RSSI readings are not needed. Some things to remember: TURN THE SENSITIVITY DOWN (COUNTERCLOCKWISE) and move the unit towards the antenna under test starting from some distance away, or you risk pinning (and bending) the meter needle or burning out some components. Move in an arc around the antenna under test to map the RF pattern. You can also change spatial orientation of the antenna to check polarization of the antenna under test. The instructions are adequate if you have some idea of what you are doing. (e.g., you figure out that "launch" means transmit). I am sure that describing the unit as "beautiful and generous" is just hyperbole. 4 stars given because I would like to see instructions edited by an English speaker, not a machine translation. Unit worked perfectly to check the signal from my BF-F8HP.

Highly sensitive RF Meter
The amplified meter is well made shielded in a metal enclosure. I’ve used it to test RF patterns in amateur radio antennas. It is remarkably sensitive and I’ve also measured many rf sources around the house, including cordless phones, cell phones, wifi, microwave ovens, wireless mouse, just about any rf sources. A nice addition to my radio station. Works as described.

Quality Meter
Well built, easy to adjust and read.

Works adequately.
Very sensitive that's good. But then linearity of the pot is a bit iffy. Near the most sensitive area, the meter is erratic and jumps all over.

This version of Surecom field strength meter is what's called an active field strength meter because it contains a wide-band amplifier to increase its sensibility. This is a very sensitive device that is used to detect RF signals and the transmission pattern of an antenna and many other uses involving RF radiation. The construction is flawless the circuit board is topnotch and very well done. The small Li-ion battery inside is connected with a small standard connector that means that you will not have any problem to replace it in a few years. The battery is held into place with a tie rap that can be replaced when you will replace the battery later (in a few years). The antenna connector uses an SMS Female connector that can always be adapted with and BNC antenna to use on specific band. (using and adaptor not included) The RF amplifier is a little bit unstable at the time. It can be used to detect RF bugs but this is another story... I like this product. 5 Stars
