River City Clocks Traditional German Cuckoo Clock with Five Hand-Carved Maple Leaves and One Bird, 14-Inch Tall

I purchased this clock as a gift last Christmas. The woodwork is very nice and the clock is just the right size. I'm glad I went with the 7 day version, although the weights are heavy it is more convenient to only reset them once a week as opposed to daily. It took a few days to get the timing right. The leaf on the pendulum has to be moved up and down to get the right timing and the bottom of the box has to be placed right so there is proper balance for the pendulum. You will notice there are two "pins" on the bottom corners to help keep the clock in place. The recipient has been very pleased with the clock and it looks great. It does sound on the hour with the number of the hour and gives a single sound on the half hour. This is all mechanical.

I purchased the clock from this ad in 2012 and again this year (2013) from two different venders. I believed it to be an 811-13, as stated in the ad. The 811-13 is an 8 day weight driven clock. On both orders an 811-14q arrived. These are battery operated clocks. One vender was able to correct the order after I shipped the clock back. I assumed after a year that the ad would be corrected, but it wasn’t and the other vender refunded my money after I returned the second clock. They both said there was a mistake in the order number in the ad that is forwarded to river city clocks, where the items actually is shipped from. I have no problem with the vendors but beware of the listing. I even made a point to ask before ordering but only received replies from people that owned the correct clock, not the actual seller.

This clock was packaged well. The clock is beautiful. Better then the photo. After adjusting the pendulum to keep the correct speed it works perfectly. No problem adjusting the time and now it runs like a clock (pun intended). Just be sure to follow the unpacking directions and hang it high on the wall. There is a switch that turns off the cuckoo that you manually toggle on and off for the evening if you desire. It is a loud cuckoo and chime and I love it. Reminds me of the clock my mom had while we were growing up. Love the ticking sound and the way you wind it. This is an eight day clock so I don't have to worry about winding it every day. I usually do it when I think of it. Great purchase - I'm thoroughly happy with it!

I was in Germany a few days ago and wanted a clock I found that they were asking a bit more than I wanted to pay then i would have it shipped and worry about damage/Return issues. This was easy adn i had it next day in perfect condition, I also knew that Amazon would back me if there was a problem.

This was a Christmas gift for our daughter. She was very excited about receiving it. The clock she was replacing was the same exact style clock bought by my mom & dad over 50 or 60 years ago. She has it up and is extremely happy with it. Quoting her, "I would highly recommend it." J.H. St. Charles, Mo.
