This is an amazing game!
This is a downright amazing game! I was surprised because, as someone who doesn't play Nintendo games often, I had never heard of this franchise. This enters the realm of instant classic and I hope Nintendo makes more and expands. The game play is simple enough for a child to learn, but the puzzles are challenging enough that adults would have a tough time as well. The premise is this: 1. You have a vacuum gun that sucks and blows (R1 and L1 respectively). You can suck things up like ghosts, rugs, etc. Use this to move things in the game environment. 2. You have two different types of flash lights, a dark light and bright light (Y and A (I think)). They activate nodes throughout the levels and reveal hidden items and doors. These lights also are used to reveal or stun ghosts, which then you catch. 3. Each level has a main objective and each world has about 5-10 levels. You can rush through the levels completing the objective or take some time to find hidden things throughout the environment. You can interact with the world around you in unique ways. Fire will burn things or melt it, water is buoyant, etc. etc. 4. To progress through the game, use your tools to interact with the environment, catch ghosts, and find objects. Surprisingly, this doesn't get too old because just when you solve one puzzle, another one starts and might not be obvious how it plays together. You have to really study the rooms and experiment with that reacts to what stimulus. Don't be fooled, the game is a little childish and cartoony, but the puzzles can be downright tough, especially when you have ghosts trying to kill you. There are HOURS of content in this game just to complete the main quest, not to mention multiplayer skirmishes and 'ghost fights'. For $20 this game is a must-play for anyone with a 3DS. By the way, the artistic design of the game is amazing and fun, the 3D effects are the best on the console and luigi interacts with everything, from humming the same tune as the background music to little facial expressions that are pretty funny. I was very pleased with this purchase.

An Engaging, Memorable, and Rewarding Experience for All Ages!
What a beautifully crafted gem we have here on the 3DS. The game has a great balance of thrills, spooks, frustrations, charm, humor, and triumphs to appeal to gamers of all ages. The objectives in each mansion/level are extremely well thought out, and though at times you might find yourself unsure of how to unlock a door, locate an item, or defeat a foe, you will eventually figure it out. You will likely be coming back to the game long after defeating it in order to find all of the Boos, hidden objects, and other secrets surrounding the mansions. Helpful tip: Instead of using the vacuum to get rid of the multi-colored spiders, mice, and frogs, stun them!

Great Game
I am retired and was never much of a gamer, but I found this game fun and reasonably challenging. It is not so hard that I give up, but not so easy that it is no fun. There are lots of really neat graphics and interesting characters and challenges. I really like it and would highly recommend it to all. It's an excellent value too.

Amazing game ever
I like how Luigi acts in this game he is always terrified about everything he sees and also going through the whole house trying to capture ghost and also finding more things that will help you during the game and what I think is funny is that he hums to the creepy music it is kind of like a puzzle because you have to figure out a way to go into the rooms it also has amazing graphics

Fun and Addicting
Got this when it came out (Nintendo Select version). Played it for couple hours and couldn't really put it down. It was actually pretty fun and quite addicting (for me). Not to scary for the kids if they want to play. Pretty funny that my 4-year old was watching me play. Thought it was like Ghostbusters (he loves that movie). He would like laugh each time I vacuum a ghost. With this game your on a mission to collect the dark moon pieces. Go room to room to collect coins and capture ghosts with your vacuum cleaner :) Sometimes you'll be using your flashlight to open certain doors or even paralyze a ghost for a few seconds. It says you can play online with other players worldwide. I haven't tried that yet. Not sure where to go to even play with others. It maybe the "ScareScraper mode" I actually have to complete more missions to be able to unlock it.

Must-Have title for 3DS!
Luigi's mansion: Dark moon is an excellent first party title from nintendo. I was a little hesitant about making a purchase for the original MSRP of $39.99, but as a nintendo select, its a must have for the nintendo 3ds. Although many seem to be disappointed by the gameplay mechanics in comparison to the original gamecube version, the game holds up great on its own. The levels are set up as a puzzle/exploration type of progression in a "haunted mansion," where there are plenty of secrets to find in addition to following the main story. The gameplay can be a little bit slow, in that you often have to travel room to room searching for keys, ghosts, or hidden currency, but the atmosphere and unique playstyle make it more than enjoyable. The game also offers additional challenges, which allow you to revisit levels you've already completed, adding a few extra hours to gameplay. If you are going for 100% completion, I would say you could definitely get 25+ hours out of this game! I wholeheartedly recommend this game to anyone looking to expand their 3DS library, and for the current price, its more than worth a try if you are hesitant about the different style of gameplay.

The box art on my copy of this game was different from the "Nintendo Selects" version pictured here. It had a label on it saying it was for the U.A.E., Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and Singapore. After doing some research I found out that my copy of the game was part of an "International" release. The seller must have sent me this version because it was a more readily available in stock, and perhaps a slightly less expensive copy of the game. With that said, the game itself was actually identical to the North American version, and it played on my system (I'm in Canada) with no difficulties. It was still in English, so no difficulties there. If you receive a copy of this game with different box art, don't be alarmed. The game itself is still the same as advertised.
