This is a great kit for beginners! I followed the instructions for JAOM (Joel's Ancient Orange Mead - recipe included in kit) and although I know I'll need to backsweeten it before drinking its already tasting pretty good. I'm now on my 3rd batch, no disasters yet. What I really like is that the kit includes the key pieces of equipment for your first batch, as you get comfortable with the process you can always add a few bits here and there. The only complaint I have is that the bucket is opaque, and the instructions say that when the mead is clear and when the fruit drops to the bottom it's ready to rack off, but how can you tell when you can't see?? It's a minor gripe that bothered me more for my first batch than it did for my 3rd. I'm very pleased with this kit.

The kit has everything I need but I have not started making any alcohol yet.

This item was bought as a gift, so I haven't tested it, but it arrived promptly and other items which I have bought from the same company have been excellent and good value.
