A railroaders testimony.
The media could not be loaded. I am a conductor on a very heavy switching job. All switches we use require keys to unlock. And, we interchange with different railroads and each have their own key and locks. That being said, I purchased this product in September of 2020. Thus far, it has held up great. I wear demin bibs at work and clip it to the clasp on my bibs. It carries 6 keys and has yet not to fully retract or any of the parts break. Its been in the cold, snow, rain and heat. It hasn't failed me yet. So in closing, if your active at your job and constantly use keys, my suggestion would be this product.

Keep Your Keys At Your Side
This clip on, sliding wire key ring is well made and works well at keeping your keys on the ready. Over the last several years I have lost my keys more than once. Now, I keep them clipped to the inside of my backpack at ALL TIMES, never taking them out. When I arrive home, I LEAVE them clipped, reach into my bags top pocket, slide the keys out leaving them safely clipped to my bag and WALLAH! I no longer take them out and leave them laying around; hence, I no longer lose them. I LOVE THIS CLIP ON KEY RING!

Great for everyday badging
This is my second time buying this product. First one lasted Five years. Only reason it broke was my own fault. Guess the string couldn't handle a key getting stuck in a bench that was bolted to the floor. I have to badge in multiple doors all day at work and never had any problems with loss of tension in the string. Never had any defects or issues in five years with the first one and don't expect any with the new one.

Wonderful
I was looking at the super 48 model but I didn't realize how freaking huge it was! This size was a bit smaller and more manageable. Still not exactly what you would call "low key" (pun intended) it still isn't overly large where it gets in the way of things. It extends far enough from my belt to the key hole on my front door even when the key bak is on the far side position of my body. I would say 36" is enough for most day to day usage. The kevlar strand seems to be holding up just fine. No fraying so far and it runs just smooth in and out of the reel. I like it since it doesn't make too much noise when used. The hole on the nylon where carabiner is located, is large enough for those load smaller bearing carabiners you see for sale at hardware stores and walmart. I've been using those types on my keys for years but the included carabiner is nice and flat where it meets the nylon so I don't have to worry about it stretching on the rounded side of my older load bearing carabiner.

Works for what I needed
I ordered this to clip onto my belt loop and attach a small monocular telescope to for use in archery. Instead of more heavy, cumbersome binocular I have a small monocular which I can reach down and pull up to look at the target and when finished release it and it goes back to the key holder. I use a 6x small monocular and it works well, weights nothing and it out of the way most of the time. So far so good.

Perfect for backpacks
This is perfect for attaching to built-in hooks in backpacks. Many backpacks come with these for keychains but their lines can be a bit short. Adding a retractable line makes it super convenient to pull out keys and tuck them away. I love that this minimalist unit doesn’t have unneeded stuff like badge holders, and you can remove the carabiner if you want. This let’s it take up minimal space in the backpack.

It feels nice and durable, I'd have loved to use it, but man is it bulky
TL;DR be careful, this thing is huge. It's long and bulky. It's not even the longer variant of their retractable keychains which is 7 whole inches (ignoring cable length) compared to the 6 inches this one has. It hangs low and swings easily, meaning your keys will be beating against whatever body part you've attached the keychain to.The picture is kind of misleading, though I wouldn't blame KEY-BAK for that. Pictures always distort proportions. They actually give you a lot of information on the subject, such as the diameter (and material) of the housing, the overall weight and cord length (and again material to remind you that Kevlar® is actually the trademarked name of the branded version of aramid fiber), and even the diameter of the split ring, plus materials again of the carabiner and the split ring to help judge weight. So... long way of saying I don't think KEY-BAK is trying to be deceptive. Pictures just complicate things. Especially people who have troubles visualizing size and weight from descriptions. However, despite taking responsibility for my misunderstanding of the size, I do want to warn that this thing is indeed massive. I recognized that this would be bulkier than the badge reels that they offered, but two things drew me to this one. 1.) the Carabiner is attached to a strap, my thought process was that a strap is easier to fix if it breaks, rather than having a carabiner that's attached to the cord housing, or the variants with a clip attached to the back of the housing. Plus, it's more flexible for situations that might involve large amounts of moving, absorbing forces and removing stress from the housing or (less importantly) the carabiner. 2.) It came with a split ring directly connected to the end of the cord. If you look at all of the badge reel variants, you'll notice that there is a triangle connector that connects to the cord, then, finally, a split ring and a plastic ID strap. I get the logic, the ID strap can't directly connect to the cord, so the connector is necessary, but I've already tried using the plastic ID strap on my badge holder, and it doesn't fit, so I can't use it, and I don't have pliers to remove it. I know, what kind of crazy person doesn't have some simple home tools right? Haha. Those reasons may be superfluous, but it was the same price as the Sidekick, and I figured they were just enough of a reason to not have to buy pliers. However, again, I'd like to reiterate just how bulky this is. This time by pointing to my two pictures. They showcase how not only is the reel longer than my badge holder, but it's almost as wide. This results in a very... conspicuous system. I tried it on my lanyard to see what it would look like if I wanted to wear it around my neck, though I was pretty set on not doing that when I decided to buy my new badge holder anyway. I suddenly found myself needing to hold more than one card for my work, and needed a badge holder, so I... in my vanity, decided I wanted the GOVO badge holder, but not the polycarbonate or aluminum. I decided to go all in and get the titanium badge holder. So there was no way I was going to have that beating my chest when I had to briskly walk to my next meeting. Though, it was nice to know what it would have looked like, so in testing, I found that with my lanyard, which normally would hang to just about sternum level, the combined length of the reel and my lanyard reached well past my waist. Not a comfortable place for people looking to see if I am an authorized personnel, and definitely would be very run inhibiting. Next I tried the place I was expecting to hang my badge which is my belt loop. Again, because of the absurd length, this thing swings very easily from simply walking, and the badge constantly beat at my leg. I understand that this was meant for keys rather than a badge, but I can't imagine anyone with a large keyring wanting this, as the swinging would probably be a lot less comfortable than it already is with just a badge right?Anyway, if you made it through this, thanks for going on this ranting journey with me, I returned the product and am getting the Sidekick shipped to me as a replacement.
