High mileage drives
I'm going to start at 5 stars for getting a working drive, but this thing has put in some *work*. It is 2024, the manufacturing date is Aug 2011, and SMART data has not been wiped from this 7K3000.The pros - power cycle count was 43 and start/stop count was the same when I got it, so it's been spinning constantly in whatever it's former home was, likely a server or always-on workstation given those numbers. The cons - power on hours is over 88,000. That's more than a decade of continuous run time. That said, they advertise a 2 million hour MTBF, so I'm not overly concerned.I'm only using this for non-essential archive storage, and nothing I'd have a problem losing, but be aware that these are not gently used drives here.

It's a little noisy.
My Seagate 1.5TB Barrucuda recently kicked the bucket after 7 years and I needed a replacement drive. I decided to go with the most dependable name in hard drives, HGST. This hard drive is not the fastest out there but it's used in data centers around the world for its reliability. So far, it's worked like new.The main issue here is noise. It's not loud but it's noticeable. Considering this drive is intended for the data center, this makes sense because drive noise is not of concern if it's going to be in a back room or closet for it's whole life. However, since I am only using it as a backup drive I rarely use it so the noise isn't that big of a deal.

A Swift Humming Giant
This Drive is Extremely Powerful and Reliable. Not to mention it arrived to me with a capacity of nearly 2800 GB for a price of less than $50, and for my purposes that is more than I could have asked for. However, Buyer Beware, know what you are getting into before you buy this drive. This drive is not silent, but it is not overly loud either. Which I think is perfectly reasonable considering that this drive's original and intended sole purpose was to be used as a part of fast and reliable mass storage arrays in server centers. I have and do currently game on this drive. In my computer’s case, which sits on the ground 3 ft away from me the sound of the drive is comparable faintly to an old optical drive sinning up. And this sound occurs only occasionally when the drive is under full load. I’m not a Twitch streamer and I usually play games with a fan on anyway in the summer, so the sound is not really a problem for me personally (Although in some cases I will probably transfer a long movie to a quieter drive before watching). I don’t know the performance spec in and out of these drives, but the one I received loads games as fast as you would expect a good 7200rpm drive to, and it transfers large files and file/folder directories at rates in excess of 100-200 MB/s. The fact that this HDD has been refurbished and backed by Amazon warranty makes it a super great and affordable deal for all your mass storage over SATA even if you’re a budget gamer looking for the best bang for your buck on a secondary game drive. Don’t install Windows OS on this! Buy a cheap SSD instead.

I spun it up for the first time literally 30 mins ago,
but I'm impressed by the write speed (180MB/s on what I assume is sequential data). It also came with SMART numbers reporting as a new drive, no partition table, and the entire device secure-erased (or never written to in the first place, I can't tell which). All in all, it appears to be a cheap and fast 3TB 3.5" internal disk drive that wasn't even "renewed." I'll never bother coming back in six months, but for what it's worth, there's my review after 30 minutes.EDIT: so I did come back a month or two later after all, honestly. The SMART attributes were reset, but there's an entry in the SMART self-test log for an offline check. The powered-on hours are listed there as 5.7 years. But honestly, the drive works great and shows no sign of failing. I just wish they hadn't secure-erased it and reset all apparent signs of its age. I'd buy it again, great drive for the price, but I take issue with their business practices.

The seller is bad, but the product is good due too many reasons!
Although I really love this particular hard drive make, capacity model, the seller made a listing error and sold me something in Refurbished and claim it was totally new from the packaging after long hours of use time by the third-party seller. Haha, get this, this is not the only seller who is getting caught doing this type of selling illegal scheme at all but, another seller did this to me on Amazon.com with my HGST 10TB 3.5' HDD!If I am going to list something new like this, I would give my own customers a new item and not something different. However, I do want to point out that drivers like this is good for the money, the storage capacity is fine too and noise level, I really do not care about noise level as long as it is able to function and work as intended. However, 2 Amazon sellers third parties in a row did this to me and they should be ashamed of themselves for giving me something different in return is not what I paid on the listing during product purchase! Once again, Seller is bad, but the product works. The seller made an honest mistake and mistakes do not come for free at all. I hope my funds get reimburse of this HDD item because of this issue.
