Well worth it
I have a lot of Malika cordless tools, and feel I am forever tied to Malika because of the investment I have in batteries. The good thing about it, is the batteries last a really long time. I have some that are 8 years old and still holding a decent charge. I bought this in part, because I wanted two more batteries but also because my old drill died. The drill is a bit heavier then my old one, but it is also sturdier and hopefully will last longer. I’ve burned through 2 already and seem to be the only tool from Malika that hasn’t lasted. I have 2 impact drivers, so this is my third. They simply keep getting better. This one is faster and more powerful than my last one and I thought that was a big improvement over the first. I use these a lot and am very happy with their design and usability. They’re really nice tools.

You can just feel the quality in your hand
After reviewing different brands like Dewalt, Milwaukee, Metabo etc etc i decided to go with Makita. Why? It was one of the lighter drills and drivers out there and they both did really well with all the tests that i watched on youtube. I have a house made out of concrete and masonry so i needed a drill that could handle the walls and this one did just that. No problem at all. Dewalt was sometimes producing smoke during different testing and Milwaukee was a bit to expansive. This set was priced really well for a day or so and bought it without hesitation. The impact driver is amazingly light and small, even with the 5ah battery and it has loads of power. I am thinking about getting a 2ah or 1.5ah battery just to get into tiny spaces. There are cheaper brands out there but if you’re gonna get a hammer drill and impact driver, just spent the extra bucks on getting a quality product like the brands well known for making power tools. Its gonna save you lots of headaches and work and you’ll keep them for many years.

Makita, the tools that won't fail you
For the longest, I was always a "corded" tool guy. MANY years ago, Makita came out with the 9.6v battery powered drill, more tools were soon to follow in this battery format. It was the late 80's when I bought my first Makita battery tool, but I was still a hard core "corded" user. Many years have passed, and many battery sizes have come and gone. It wasn't until late 2020 when I was working on a project with my buddy, he being a heavy battery tool user, laughed at me for still using the corded stuff. I finally purchased a kit just like this one and put it to work, HARD WORK. The 5AH batteries gave amazing run times, the hammer drill has so much torque that on two occasions it nearly broke my wrist from when a 6" hole saw would catch a nail or stucco wire and do a "torque spin". The poor little impact driver has set 1000's of screws in all lengths from 1.5" coated screws to12" timber screws and still keeps going strong. In July of 2025 the hammer drill clutch finally died an ugly death. Have no fear, there are always special package deals on Makita tools, so I ordered another complete kit. Next month I will order the clutch to fix the old drill, but it will now become a backup for when I have helpers on the job. Oh, and I am still using the same four 5AH batteries that came in the original kit from 2020. BATTERY TIP: let the batteries run all the way down before you charge them, I will run them on my flashlight until it shuts off. Would I recommend this kit to anyone, YES, anyone that wants a tool that will always be there for you.

Great Impact Driver
Bought this kit for the impact driver and 2 batteries. I've used DeWalt, Ryobi, and Makita impact driver, and of the three, Makita is the best. DeWalt is overpowered POC that breaks screws. Ryobi is a POC that breaks after few usage. It's a huge plus that I can easily adjust the speed of the driver.

Nearly half the price of the big box stores
When I purchased the product it was just shy of HALF the price this same kit was listed for at the big orange box store.I have a full line of Makita tools, from miter saws, grinders, drills, drivers, in every size shape and color but this set filled the void of a top end powerhouse in my collection. The drill is an absolute beast, and even though its shorter and seemingly more compact than my other regular duty drills, it packs a punch unmatched to my other drills. The driver is in the same boat. Smaller in size but bigger in every way. The selectable speeds and torque make this the ideal driver for anything around the house or working on my truck. Its perfect.

Quality
Best bang for your buck. Makita hands down is the best. Brushless is a must for battery life.

Makita rules
I have always really enjoyed my Makita gear. When I was a lineman waaaay back in the early nineties the 9065D cordless drill was my got to. I was a drop installer and it was used daily for 8 hours. Dropped from ladders, thrown in the back of the truck, et cetera. That drill lasted until 2015... I got a Dewault, it worked until the battery life was terrible and barely could drive a screw much less punch a hole. 8 years later I pick up these two Makita guys and I am already stoked. They are powerful, charge quickly, easy to use, lighter and a smaller profile. Once again superior. Makita rules.A couple drawbacks:I'm left handed so maybe that's my issue but the meat on my pointer-finger just happens to be in the right spot to press the backward button in to "neutral" while I'm pulling the trigger just a little too often. There should be a pocket/space/something to strap the charger into a spot in the bag. The bag has lots of pockets, but nothing seems to fit in any of them. The batteries by themselves fit in the side pockets. *shrug* it's a sack to carry stuff in, it would be better if it organized the tools that came with it.
