Worth the time
This is traditional old fashion oatmeal that takes a longer time to prepare but is definitely worth the extra prep. Not only is it much more delicious than that soupy instant crap it is much more healthy. We cook it on the weekends and it stays fresh in the fridge all week long.It is truly satisfying and will quell your need for that mid morning donut.

Once you go McCann Sterl Cut Irish oats there is no going back to Quaker (anything)!
This is THE Best oatmeal bar none I have ever had. Easy to make. We cook 2 cups of oats and it lasts us 5 days or so. It only takes 30 minutes to cook. We cook it ahead and refrigerate, heating in the microwave as needed with a sprinkle of water and it tastes like it was just made. These oats have a nutty aroma and a beautiful texture. I recently was somewhere that only had Quaker oatmeal. I was starving, so I thought , no big deal , they will be fine. Nope! Quaker oats tasted like cardboard and felt like wallpaper glue in my mouth. I literally had to spit it out into the garbageSo, if you want the best oatmeal in the world. McCants Irish Steel cut oats are the choice you should make.

No preservatives in any of this. And way less calories than Strawberry Shortcake.Excellent in any bread calling for oatmeal - Breadmakers included...Antacids have now been packed away.*************************************************************************Recapture the 'great nutty taste and texture' of long cooking oats by using 1 1/2 qt DEEP microwave bowl and WATER - not milkCook on HIGH 3 minutes - stir, then let stand 2 min. - dab of 'homemade crock pot apple butter'/ or light sprinkle of Cinnamon sugar/ or any favorite fruit topping and U have set Urself on a path for a hearty start to or end of the day 'bounce of nutrition' - Adding Fruit and dab of Cool Whip makes a tasty snack on a cold winter's night.Pckg suggestion is HI-3-stir-Hi 2-3 more-let stand 1/ this is where the 'boiling over - no matter how DEEP bowl is - happens.Good long shelf life-expiration date to Nov. 2011McCANN'S Steel Cut Irish Oatmeal, Quick & Easy, 16-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 6)This will 'bump up taste' and upgrade texture of plain white bread in Breadmaker 100% - as well as 'hearty meal' during the upcoming predicted wind-chill here in VA to a minus 15 -Will try both microwave and crock-pot and add opions then - The box clearly says DEEP bowl for microwaving to avoid boiling over.Ordered Both McCann's Irish Quick Cooking Oatmeal six-packs [boxes] and B&M Bread tins [6pk] were shrink-wrapped allowing for even more protection. Best Steel Cut Oats
There's no substitute for these Irish Oats. They are just firmer and chewier than all of the other brands I've tried, and it's very hard to ruin them by overcooking. What's really amazing is that they can be shipped across the ocean from Ireland, packaged in a very nice metal can, and a profit can still be made. Everyone's happy!

We have this nearly every day
A little pricey, but excellent nutritious choice for those who can spare the time required to cook it. Very filling, and one can lasts a decent time.

Best steel cut oatmeal there is!
If you have the time, and can cook this oatmeal exactly by the directions, you will want to eat this oatmeal every week! It cooks to a creamy, but just right bowl of oatmeal. Add a few chopped up fresh fruits, and a little honey and you have the best breakfast one can eat. It is yummy and very health for you. This is the best price you will find anywhere. Don't worry about it being more than you would eat, before it gets stale. That will not happen! It will be eatened before it goes bad!!!

couple of glitches, but got the oatmeal
The good news is that all of the oatmeal cans I received had lids (as opposed to missing lids being reported recently), The bad news is that 10 of the 12 cans have dents in them. The dents do not match the cans having collided among each other and the box was not damaged in a way that could have caused the dents. More bad news is that, day by day, the arrival of the oatmeal was postponed for about three days, but the good news is they did arrive. And the best news is that the oats were not harmed in any way and I know they will taste great!
