Quality
I love this chinrest. I just got it today and played about an hour with it and my TMJ pain didn't flare up. Before I had a Kauffman style chinrest and it was too high, the valley was too shallow, and the side mount was uncomfortable considering my chin tends to slightly go over the tailpiece. I've tried the ever popular Guarneri style chinrests in the past and they were okay but this Strad style with the raised lip and deeper cup has helped anchor me to the violin. The usual jaw tension didn't make an appearance. As for the quality, beautiful. The ebony is smooth, the German hardware is top notch, and the cork is thicker, smoother, and surprisingly way better than what I had expected. I mean it's cork, right? At least that's what I thought. Now I know. Totally sold. I want to buy a boxwood one just because I'm sure it's a stunner too.
