Amazing for double cleansing
A million thanks to the Sephora team member who casually pointed me towards the INKEY list--the entire line has been blowing my mind! If you're looking for a nice, unfussy balm to take off your makeup before using another cleanser to wash your face (aka double cleansing), this is a fantastic option. I've tried all kinds of makeup removing balms from low to high price points, and the INKEY List Oat Cleansing Balm is my new favorite. You get plenty of it for the price, which is great since I don't believe most brands when they say a dime-sized amount will take off all your makeup in every circumstance. Even if a little does go a long way, I wear a full face of makeup every day and need at least a quarter's worth of any balm to get everything off to my liking. This bottle is going to last me a good while, and it will go even farther for people who prefer the less is more model.More importantly, the formula is awesome, one of those simple and to the point gems. It's both gentle and very effective, a win/win for super sensitive/oily/prone to some serious hormonal acne skin like mine. It's a little thicker than some of the other balms I've tried, but that's been a plus for me. It feels like it's really gripping the makeup on my face rather than just slip-sliding around the top layers of it. This balm also just FEELS clean, if that makes sense--it's not chemical-y at all, it doesn't have any added scents, but it also doesn't smell too strongly or too strangely without them. Most makeup removing balms out there don't sting my eyes, but plenty do get into my eyes and leave a bit of a blurring film. It's another win/win situation with this balm: it removes every bit of makeup off my eyes (no morning raccoon eyes!) but doesn't stick around once I wipe it clean. For clarity, I do use a makeup eraser to wipe the balm off, which I think is a game-changing step no matter what balm you use. After I'm done double cleansing, my skin never feels tight, dry or itchy in between the cleansing and moisturizing steps, and the gentle formula in this balm is a big part of that. I've seen a couple reviewers who say their skin felt greasy after using the balm, but for my part, I've never experienced that. That might be more of an issue if you want to use this as a standalone cleanser, but my skin just feels soft and makeup-free when I use it, even before I reach for the cleanser to complete my double cleanse. In all, I love this simple and effective balm, and I'll definitely be adding it to my subscribe and save list. For the price and the quality, it's won me over from reaching for any other brand I've tried before.

HIGHLY recommend
I absolutely adore this and swear by it! Gentle enough not to burn your eyes, strong enough to take off prosaid. Wonderful moisture, you do have to use a damp cloth to get it off, but it comes right out. Takes any makeup off like a dream. And honestly I wouldn't traid this for a luxury brand, it's amazing.

Reliable
I think this cleansing balm would cleanse better BUT it is reliable. I feel like it gets the job done for removing my makeup and it is very moisturizing. It doesn’t remove my blackheads like the Anya cleansing oil does but it also doesn’t break me out the way that the Anua cleansing oil does. I had switched to that one to try it out hoping it would remove my blackheads and it did but after seeing how it broke me out in a weird sort of fungal acne I went back to this one and my skin recovered so if you had a similar reaction to the anua one, this one might be for you. I’ve yet to find a cleansing oil or balm that removes my blackheads but doesn’t break me out. For now, this one gets the job done and doesn’t break me out as long as I follow up with a water based cleanser as you should with any oil based cleanser anyway!

Great for removing makeup
Excellent product. It cleans your skin and leaves it soft and smooth, just as described.

VERY greasy, will not repurchase.
I wanted an affordable balm cleanser with fewer synthetic ingredients -- most of the brands that work well have a lot of ingredients I'd rather not use. This is good ingredient-wise, but although it does the job it's so oily I might as well just use a plant oil instead. I live in a cold place but the formula is almost always liquid and I have to store the tube on the narrow end so it doesn't leak everywhere. It does not rinse away fully, so I only use it in the first part of a double cleanse. There's no way I could use this in a hot climate. I have oily, acne-prone skin but it hasn't caused any pimples yet. Still, I would only recommend this for those with very dry skin.

never write reviews
EDIT: I’ve decided to include pictures to emphasize the difference! Pictures of me in brown and blue are while I was using the product, and pictures of me and green are both literally only 5 - 7 days after I STOPPED using it. hope this helps.I highly advise against using this product if you struggle with atopic dermatitis/eczema, or just have sensitive skin in general. This product contains phenoxyethanol, which is a harsh chemical that can make your eczema worse! It’s normal for people like me with sensitive skin to have severe allergic reactions and suffer from skin irritation because of this chemical.I’m quite ignorant when it comes to ingredients and chemicals in products, but when I saw that this was an “oat cleanser” I figured it would work great to soothe eczema patches I would get on my face here and there, while removing makeup. However, when I noticed how terribly my eczema was triggered while I used this cleansing balm, I started doing a little research. At first, I cleaned up my diet and started taking Omega 3 and Vitamin D daily; face was still EXTREMELY dry, especially toward the end of the day. I’ve always been someone with an oily face at the end of the day, but it was suddenly dry like the Sahara Desert. After I read the ingredients and ceased use of this product immediately, I noticed a difference almost overnight. It’s been only five days since I stopped using this, and my skin looks COMPLETELY different. I’m drinking the same amount of water, but it looks so much more hydrated. It took me 2 months to realize this was damaging my skin. Please read this review and take it as a cautionary tale if you have sensitive skin and/or eczema! I never write reviews, but am hoping this deters just 1 person from buying this. We need to start reading the ingredients on the products we use.Phenoxyethanol is NOT a safe product to use for your skin care!
