Yes, steam enters the glass bowl via plastic parts. I cannot detect any plastic taste in the food. So unless you have a very sensitive nose and tongue, you should have no problems.

Q: Why does it say glass steamer if it is plastic! with glass lead. this is so misleading. I don't want any plastic in my food. Is it glass?

The entire food container is glass. Glass dish and lid. The only part that is plastic is the container for the water. Nothing plastic touches the food. This is a great steamer and I use it all the time. The glass goes right in the dishwasher and the plastic part just air dries.
