Errors on stitch directions
I purchased both of this author's books due to the large number of stitch patterns and good pictures provcided. Unfortunately, both books have errors. 2 random swatches done from more technical patterns and both of them are wrong as my swatches resembled nothing like the book pictures. Went on-line to check with free stitch registries and found consistent errors. I guess they don't check their patterns. Many on-line stitch registries will show both flat and round versions. Take my advice don't waste your money on this book or author. So from now on if I refer to these pattern books and pictures I will cross-reference with on-line stitch dictionaries to see if they are the same before I start a swatch for a project. Very dissapointed.

Fantastic Book Find!!
This is a GREAT find for knitters of all ages and levels. The book gives you many, many stitches to choose from, whether you are working in the round or knitting flat. Each stitch has directions for both charting and written. It even has stitches that are reversible (it looks similar on both sides), and ones that can only be done two-sided. She also has a Volume 1, which I am ordering and both books only have 4 of the same stitches (Knit, Purl, 1x1 Ribbing and 2x2 Ribbing), the rest of the stitches are different. I am an experienced knitter and love doing top down in one piece and I can't wait to use these stitches in my next project. Would highly recommend this book to all knitters.

A Wonderful Resource for Knitters
This is an absolute must-have for all knitters! Don't know why no one had ever thought of this before, but I sure am glad that Wendy Bernard did. I brought this book to my Knitting Group and 8 people ordered it on the spot! The book shows stitch patterns flat, in the round, bottom up and top down and is a fantastic resource. If you are like me and have wondered how to translate a flat pattern into a circular one, then this book is for you.

LOTS of GREAT INFO in this book!
SUPER BOOK! HIGHLY recommended! If you want to do simple wash cloths or do a blanket w/patchwork squares, this is the book for you! It has both charts to read and then the patterns as well. If you're not good at reading the charts, as I am, then this book will tell you the pattern. I can't recommend it enough! It also tells you how to do the pattern in the round, on circular needles. It also tells you if the pattern is the same on the front of it as the back! LOTS of GOOD info! It's a nice hard back book w/a spiral spine. So it's easy to use and you can use it on a book stand!I got lucky and it came w/I a week of ordering!

Excellent Reference!
I'm so glad I bought these books (I got both volumes). I thought I was getting basic pattern books but they are actually beautiful hard cover spiral bound. Full color pictures, patterns for flat and round knitting and extras at the end of each section with info charts and large size patterns using some of the stitches. My only negative comment is that for one of the volumes, the Index in the back is not a straight forward alphabetical index but instead organized alphabetically within stitch repeat sections. Thats a bit of an annoyance for me.

Nice Stitch Dictionary
As an avid knitter, I love stitch dictionaries and this one is excellent. It's ring bound and will stay open to any page you choose without fuss. The book is divided up into chapters on knit and purl; ribs; twisted, slipped and fancy; cables; lace; mosaics. At the end of each chapter is a pattern. I don't know who chose the patterns, but I find them singularly unattractive except for the toque. Some of them are downright weird.I recommend this book solely for the stitch dictionary part. Forget about the patterns.

Excellent addition to your library!
This is a great book that beginner and experienced knitters will enjoy. Practice the stitches - use swatches to make hot/cold pads, continue on and make the swatches longer and turn into scarves or stitch together to make afghans! Clear instructions and well illustrated. Definitely recommend.

Great resource for knitters!
I bought this book because I enjoyed the first book by the same author, the Up, Down and All Around stitch dictionary. This is another great resource for knitters. It takes a lot of guesswork out of trying to convert stitch patterns from in-the-round to flat and vice versa. The book has a spiral binding, so pages lay flat. It is organized into categories, such as cables, colorwork and ribs. Stitch patterns that are truly reversible or look good (but different) on both sides have a notation stating so.

Not what I thought
I thought this book would explain how to convert a pattern from flat knitting to in the round, but it doesn't. Also, I have found much nicer free pattern stitches for circular knitting on line.

An indispensable book for every serious knitter!
If you love to knit and you want to learn new techniques this is your book. The explanations are clear and precise along with great photos. I love the way the book is made with a binder wire, which’s makes the book stay open so you can see your page while you work. It’s awesome when you’re knitting! You have explanations for the standard knitting, top to bottom plus in the round. The author thought about everything in this book. It’s a must if you’re a serious knitter. It is important to know that it’s a book where you practice making knitting swatches and only a few patterns are included in the book. The book is mostly to learn new techniques. But out of all your swatches you can make scarves, bedspreads. You could also make your own patterns if you are good at knitting.
