Stops water hammer
I had a water hammer problem with a regular irrigation gate valve type. It would close and I would cringe. So I bought this valve and when I say it stopped the water hammer problem, i never hear anything when it closes. It is very well made, heavier than regular valves and waters perfectly, so now I'm changing all my 14 valves over.

I have an old Rainbird irrigation system that was installed in my yard many years ago. Several of my valves have split, so it was easy enough to unscrew the top from this one and screw it in, saving hundreds of dollars versus having to pay for an irrigation plumber to redo the whole thing.

Don't count on customer service!
My valve is not slow closing. Called customer service with a simple question "what is the approximate closing time for this valve" the tech didn't know and asked why I wanted to know. I told him I had a slight water hammer problem which this valve is help or eliminate, BIG MISTAKE! after this all I got was "this valve was never intended to help with water hammer, I quoted from the literature"Slow closing to prevent water hammer and subsequent system damage"And was basically told that line proved the valve would not help with water hammer! Finally after arguing I was told they would find the answer and email it to me, nothing ever cameCalled again a few days later and asked a different tech the same question I heard him ask if anyone knew the closing speed of their PGA valve. Well, the original tech took the line and started to lecture me that this valve was in no way intended to help with water hammer, again I quoted from the literature"Slow closing to prevent water hammer and subsequent system damage"After that a refusal to help further.I am returning the PGA valve
