Yes the Porta Squatty is also tilted slightly. We designed it to be as close to the classic Ecco as possible.

Would this work as a step stool for potty training?

If you are referring to the foldable stool, I would say no. This one is mostly used for travel and we never recommend standing directly on any of the stools. The best stools for potty training are the new Potty Pets. Thank you !
