Q: Will this case protect against saltwater if used in the ocean?

The case, if properly assembled, will certainly help protect your phone against saltwater. Keep in mind that it is not intended to protect at deep depths or prolonged periods of time.

I don’t think so, pretty sure there is enough room

Fellow lifeproof case user here. In all honesty, this case has been much better. The waterproofing seal is much tighter and the charging plug, is much more secure. All though, the case has a little different feel in how it’s designed. Also, the charger plug flips up not to the side or down. Now, even with what I feel is much better construction, there is definitely the possibility of damage. As with the lifeproof cases, or any water proof case, there is plastic over the camera lenses and it may very well get scratched over time. That part isn’t so much who makes the case as it is how well you treat it. Having said that though, I’m the many months I’ve had this case, the only damage was a small area on the screen protector got scratched although it didn’t effect the functionality of the touchscreen. Hope this helps.

Q: Does the screen work for you when it's underwater; does the swipe still work to take pics and video? Any compromises on use of phone?

Touch screen doesn’t work under water, but you can start video above water and bring it under. I used it snorkeling in the Florida Keys. I think you can use buttons to take pictures under water but I only did video.
