Putting this together and unfortunately, the verticals piece with the 3 gears is warped, so the bottom 2 gears won’t stay in place. Ideas how to fix?

Is this sturdy enough to play with once it’s built?

depends on how you define "play with". My daughter and i have turned the crank probably 1,000 times and it hasn't come apart at all.

Our kit is missing the wax- any suggestions on what we could use as a substitute- it is not working without it

How about a silicone spray? I gave this as a gift so I did not assemble it and don't know about the wax. If it directs you to certain places to apply the wax, then I think a silicone spray would work just fine. You could apply it sparingly, not just spray the whole think, but that might work too. Check out a hobby store or hardware store. Good luck.

Is it possible to disassemble it back after a while to store, and then assemble again in a year or so?

I would say it is possible but terribly difficult because it would be hard to keep track of how parts go back together! Also because it is wood, pulling it apart and getting it to go back in place would wear some of the smaller wood pieces down too much to get a tight fit 2nd time
