Prime-Line K 5026 Storm Door Protector Chain and Spring, Zinc Plated (Single Pack)

I installed it on my shed front door to stop the wind from whipping the door against the side of the shed once it is opened. It is well made and works perfectly. Also the directions are well written and clear making it easy to install with a battery powered drill and hammer.

Easy installation and allows me to open my steel door easily without resistance from a gas strut. It is far more simple and cheaper to replace if it breaks.

I’m 69 years old and I had never installed one of these before. This was so easy to add to my new storm door. And it only took about 1/2 hour. Between the easy install and the low cost of this storm door wind chain it’s a small cost to pay to protect the serious money spent on a new storm door.

This is a very standard product that is designed to protect a screen door from opening too far when the wind wants to rip off yourdoor. I have used similar products on screen door installations for many years. if you have a pneumatic door closer at the top of the door you can hook the chain to the door closer using the pin that holds the door closer to the door. The other end goes near the middle/top of the door frame. First attach the chain to the door closer and then position the other end on the door frame. Next, open the door and hold it in the place where you want the spring to begin to compress and retard the door opening further. You want to position the new spring so that it helps to protect the pneumatic door closer from opening too far. The two devices work together to provide more protection from high winds.

Works as it should. What I really needed was the spring that holds up the protector chain from handing down when the door is closed making a neat looking appearance.

3 stars because I just installed and it works so far. Instructions aren't super clear, but the large spring and bracket for the screen door are pretty much common sense. The part that threw me is how the small spring attaches to chain and door. You attach to chain by shoving the spring thru the appropriate chain link at one of the spring ends that are wound looser than the middle, so that you can basically mash the chain link into the gap of the spring. Which way you push the spring into the chain matters, as if you push it in the wrong way it will pop out when door is opened to 90 degrees or more. The large nail you also spear thru the opposite end of spring, where it is also wound loose, and then hammer that sucker into the door jam close to the wall but free of interfering with your piston arm (if you have one). So it works so far, but time will tell if the small spring ends up popping out during repeated use. They could've provided a more secure method of attaching that small spring to the chain, in my opinion.

Works exactly as expected, and I live in the country with some wild winds! This was easy to install, and has held up very well (6 months after install is when I'm writing this review)

Bad quality product, expensive and useless as compared to other similar items.

Easy to install. Attention! Use stronger screws! Kids often slam the door open, which was damaging the door and hinges. This product resolved the issue with ease.
