Best curry ever!
Best curry powder ever. It's not spicy but so flavorful! I add lots of ginger to my curries I make with this powder, and they come out wonderful! It is salty though so do not add salt!

Wonderful flavor
Wonderful flavor. I’ve used it on pork belly combined with paprika and garlic powder. Best madras curry powered around!

The Curry used in every cuisine around the world
Years ago, I was a regular at a local Chinese diner. The food was fantastic. I asked questions occasionally about the cooking. The owner offered to show me around the kitchen a bit. This was the brand of curry they swore by. I've used it ever since. Fantastic stuff.

An Old-Time Family Favorite
I will never forget my first taste of curry. Some friends had invited us for dinner after a long day of moving. Tired & hungry, I walked into Melissa's kitchen to find her taking a pan of cornmeal muffins out of the oven while a big pot of chicken curry simmered on the stove. A raw spinach and mushroom salad sat on the counter next to a bottle of maple syrup salad dressing. I was not impressed. Hardly old enough to vote at the time, I was sure that I did not like curry and never a single leaf of spinach (raw or otherwise) had passed my lips since that long ago, never to be forgotten day in second grade when they instituted "Hot Lunch" at school and the teacher in charge tried to make me eat canned spinach.Still, I was raised by a Southern Lady and knew full well that one of the cardinal rules is that it is a grave offense to refuse food that is offered to you, the very heighth of rudeness. So, figuring I could fill up on cornmeal muffins, tiny helpings of rice, curry and raw spinach salad graced my plate - and were soon followed by seconds. Melissa's Curry has, in the more than four decades since, become THE family favorite - the one meal I can always count on that everyone will enjoy and nobody will complain about, the most requested birthday and special occasion dinner by a factor of 10. Even the leftovers are superb - toss them into a bowl with the rice and garnishes, mix it up and serve it cold as a curried rice salad. This Sun Brand Madras Curry Powder is the same that my friend used and the one I've cooked with for many years - at least for Melissa's Curry and those few old Southern recipes that call for a bit of curry powder. For most of that time you could readily buy Sun Brand Madras Curry Powder in many supermarkets. I've found it all over the country in years past - and then it dropped out of sight. My daughters are grown now and live all across the country, even halfway round the world, but Melissa's Curry is still THE favorite dish. Collectively we've tried dozens of other curry powders. Some have come close, but none have been quite right, so we were delighted to find our old friend here in a 12 pack! I ordered a case the last time my granddaughter came to visit from the UK so that part of it could go back with her. Melissa's Curry is back on the menu - at least until we all run out of curry powder. Two things - Sun Brand Madras Curry Powder contains salt, enough that you will probably not need to use more. This is not a hot curry powder by any stretch of the imagination. If you want a bit of heat you will want to add a bit more cayenne or a few drops of hot sauce.Ingredients included are Coriander seeds, Turmeric, Chillies, Salt, Cumin seeds, Fennel seeds, Black pepper, Garlic, Ginger, Fenugreek, Cinnamon, Cloves, Anise & Mustard.Very Highly Recommended!
