You will need to secure with screws through top of dash with self tapping screws(included). Remove oem rubber liner and retain if you ever remove this. It will conceal the holes.

I've had one of these in my 02 Wrangler for years with a Wizgear magnetic mount on the ball to hold my phone and love it. I bought this one as an experiment for my Silverado, to hopefully provide a better mount for a Garmin GPS than the suction cup and bean bag mounts. It didn't come with the mounting hardware or tape strips, which is the reason for the downgrade. But I keep a roll of VHB tape at home so I installed it in place of the little crap basket that had been on the dash for years. I knew it wouldn't match the dash but the fit is worse than I hoped. I see now that the Silvey dash is higher than the TJ dash so it may block too much road vision for use. I'll see. As said above, the downgrade is simply for the lack of mounting hardware.

I had a phone mount on my windshield, which block part of my view, and I struggled to find a good place for things like my garage door opener that didn't result in them flying around the Jeep with every bump I hit. I bought this, and now I have a place to put that kind of stuff and got my phone mount off of my windshield. Perfect.

Overall quality is fine. The reason I paid the extra $15 over the Daystar mount is to get that ball to mount a phone on. Most phone mounts use a standard size ball. This one is bigger than that. I have a wireless charger phone mount. I wanted that feature, otherwise I would've just bought the mount that's available with this tray. In order to make it fit, I had to sand the ball way down. It works now, but range of motion isn't very good. In hindsight, I'd have just bought the less expensive Daystar mount and found a way to attach a standard-size ball mount to it. $35 is too much for a plastic tray.

I was worried about the fit at first. Once I stuck it on using the included adhesive strips and then screwed it down it was rock solid! I use it for my wireless phone charger and this thing does not wiggle, shake, or move out of place. My phone is exactly where I need it.

Fantastic product. Regrew my hair, gave me a flat stomach, and made me 3 inches taller.

So loved this but it has an engineering design flaw. When you install the GoPro bracket and tighten it up, the brass nut will split. Don’t panic! Head to Lowe’s and spend $1.25 and buy a furniture nut. Worked great and 100x the strength the original one is. (Was). Just punch the old one out and this will fit into the original hole, very snug, or just use the second hole and tighten it down.
