Guide & Grow: Baby's 1st Year: A Monthly Guide to Development, Milestones and Activities to Support Baby's Development

I am so thankful I stumbled on this amazing resource while looking for parenting books on Amazon. This book has chapters divided by baby’s age in months. It is the perfect book to read monthly as your baby grows. I love that much of the book is written in list format- ease of reading for new and busy parents. Each chapter lists “typical” developmental milestones that your baby may start doing that month. These skills are broken into the categories fine motor, gross motor, social emotional, communication, self help, cognitive and play, visual, visual motor and sensory. These skills are followed up with suggested activities to promote development at this stage. Finally, each chapter ends with a short list of skills that should be mastered and you may talk to your doctor about if not. This is my new go to baby shower gift for all expecting parents. I truly believe all parents of young children should have a copy. Thank you to Sharon Drewlo for creating such a great resource. I am hoping there will be a sequel for older babies 😁

This is a wonderfully written book with lots of practical and easy strategies for baby’s development. I am a pediatric occupational therapist and the author shared several applicable activities to use when working with families. My 11 year old daughter loves the book and has been reading it as she prepares to go through babysitter classes. Highly recommend!

Such an easy to read guide for the fast paced changes that happen in the first year. As a third time parent I have appreciated the way this book is broken down by month and developmental area, very easy to understand for the short snippets of time I have to pick it up. It also has short areas that may indicate concern for development, helps keep my mom mind at ease. I am really looking forward to sharing this with first time mom friends!!

This book was fantastic! I read each chapter that correlates with the month that my daughter was so that I knew what to expect and what to work on with her. I have read a ton of development and informational books and this was the most clear, easy to read, and concise. I loved the suggestions and they were all easy to implement in our daily routine! As a first time mom, it was so helpful!

I absolutely loved how easy this book was to read. The order of information presented within the book is logical and reads easy. This book is a definite must-have if you are a new or expecting parent or grandparent. It takes you through the first 12 months of life with your child and what to expect within those 12 months regarding developmental milestones. Invaluable information! Thank you, Sharon!

I purchased a few copies of this book to give as shower gifts. Reading though it, I wished this would have been published when my children were born. It is laid out so nicely with the checklists for each new chapter. There are ideas, safety tips, suggestions and a place for notes. The first person to whom I gifted a copy told me it was "exactly" what she was looking for. I highly recommend this book.

This easy to read book is a must for new parents/grandparents/childcare professionals. As a mother of 3 and a son who has significant disabilities, I wish this book was available when my children were in their first year of development. As an Occupational Therapist, I am impressed with how Ms. Drewlo outlines developmental milestones by month and provides activities to enrich a child’s multifaceted growth needs. A great resource for anyone interested in enriching a baby’s development!

Not a fan of this book. It’s essentially a long checklist of milestones your baby should be meeting every month with very little information. Would have loved more info on helping baby to meet these milestones and what to expect during each stage. You can get this “checklist” and more info in one from other books, don’t waste your money.
