Enjoyable read

I enjoyed this book.Sandra Brown very rarely disappoints.

Good book

This was the first book I have read by Sandra Brown. I chanced upon it purely by accident. The synopsis was intriguing and so were the first couple of pages that Amazon lets you sample. Basically you follow the story of a young girl - Jade - whose innocence is wrenched away by three of her classmates, her life gets turned upside-down cos the father of one of her attackers has the money and clout to sweep all of his son's mistakes under the carpet including Jade's rape. So she doesn't see her rapists punished by the law, her best friend turns on her, her boyfriend tops himself, she finds she is pregnant, she is eventually abandoned by her mother and she has her own mental demons to battle with along the way. But she picks herself up and comes back and delivers her own justice to everyone who did her down that night. But there is another tangent you also follow in the meantime - the story of Dillon who as a kid didn't have much luck but fortunately chose the "good" path when he came to that crossroad in life and re-invented himself into a hard-working respected guy but who still didn't have much luck until his path crosses with Jade's. Of course there are certain parts of the story you can predict what will happen, like Jade is gonna fall in love with Dillon whom she hires to oversee the construction of her building, he's gonna be the one to help defeat her demons by blah blah blah, there is enough gentle twists to keep the story flowing to its conclusion which was a little "Meh". Overall, I felt BREATH OF SCANDAL was an good entertaining read, very easy to follow, no risk of being lost as the author pulls together the different characters and their `stories from the past' to the point where everyone is in the same place at the same time. It has the potential for sensitive readers to be a touchy-feely book, as you mentally connect with the characters especially Jade so that when something good happens for her you'd pleased for her, when something bad happens you're saddened too and you have to continue reading to find out how Jade pulls herself back; and then when she finally `wins a battle" against her antagonists especially the lead - Neal Patchett - it's hard not to mentally waggle a two-finger salute to them. You probably figured with all this waffle that I would recommend the book - and I do. In fact I'm considering treating an Aunt with a copy as this genre is more her line of reading than mine (no doubt she'll probably read it quicker than I did too).

BREATH OF SCANDAL is an intriguing and heartwrenching tale about a young girl's shattered dreams and her fight for survival. The author has carefully spun a tale that is guaranteed to hook you from the start. The story flows well and I felt all sorts of emotions - anguish, disbelief, sadness and pride. Yes, pride for Jade and for how she picked herself up after what she went through. And I was so glad for her to meet someone like Dillon, a man who also suffered the cruelty of fate, a man seeking for a new start. I loved how he patiently helped Jade overcome her fear of men and intimacy and help her rediscover love. With its strong characters and compelling plot, BREATH OF SCANDAL is a tear-jerking novel that you won't be able to put down. I plan on reading many more of Sandra Browns books.

A bot with a theme that is not all that comfortable to talk about but I think the author has done it well. Love the characters and their seperate stories before they come together.

This book is great. You can't stop read until the end. It was the best Sandra Brown s book that I read.
