I needed a pressing mat that would protect my table, but would be sturdy enough to allow me to get a good press on my fabric. I looked at several different ones before I decided on this one. I’m really glad that I did.The size of the map that I selected ended up being a perfect size for my side table. The mat is thick and very sturdy so that it does not compress down when pressing firmly on the fabric seams with my iron. In addition, it does not slip and slide across the table when I am ironing my fabric - it stays in place very well!The silicone pad that comes with it is an excellent addition to my purchase of the mat. Not only does it protect my tabletop, but it also protects my fabric when I am working on a larger piece. The underside of the silicone pad has a raised surface so that the silicone and iron are not sitting directly on the table or fabric.This mat allows me to have an iron right next to my sewing machine so that I do not have to keep getting up to use the larger iron and ironing board. This helps me to get my projects done so much faster.

It is about 3/4 of an inch thick or more. It works great on any surface for ironing. It's lightweight and fits into my sewing bag with my sewing machine so I can take it with me and don't have to take a regular size iorning board.

I got this to use while making quilt blocks. I like that I can have it right on my sewing machine cabinet and that I don't have to set up my iron. I love it!! I highly recommend it.

I was a little hesitant at 1st because I read that people say the wool puts off a bad smell but it doesn’t. It works great for small spaces. It doesn’t hold in the heat. Easy to store when I’m not using it. Love it!
