BSafe Electrix RTC-15-W TFCI 15amp Thermal cut-off Receptacle, White; 10 pack

I ordered this a few months ago to put in a home I am remodeling. I just opened it up last night to start on the wiring and low and behold I find out that these are not GFCI at all, but TFCI. These only protect thermally, not like a true GFCI. It trips when it becomes too hot, and then CANNOT be reset like a GFCI. After getting hot once you just have to throw away. I checked with the manufacturer and with code and confirmed that these will not cover me in locations which need a GFCI. DO NOT BUY, as this is false advertising plain and simple. Unfortunately I waited too long to open the box trusting that this was as advertised so I cannot return. My mistake.

These receptacles do something that GFCI's don't. GFCI's prevent electrocution. These prevent fires that start from "glowing connections" which cause the majority of residential fires. There is no false advertising here. They have a different stated purpose from GFCI's.
