There is no real Escape. Inseparable hardware from birth, keyboard won't survive without mouse.
I type all day for work, fast, about 125wpm on a bad day. I use lots of hot keys, tab switching and window jumping. This has a good "clack" to the keys for such a long profile. The mouse is a good enough resolution for basic games and graphic design, and feels solid with a fast bootup. Smooth install on Windows 10 laptop took only a few seconds, just put in batteries, turn on the mouse, which governs power on the keyboard via a bonded connection (more on this later) and the keyboard doesn't have a dedicated power switch itself. After that just plug in the wireless USB dongle / adapter and the rest of the install is automatic and very fast. Don't be silly and expect to use this stuff for competitive gaming, it's wireless and on normal batteries. Two points to remember:The keyboard is coded at the factory to the specific mouse that's in the box. Great for easy setup and security, but IF YOU LOSE THERE MOUSE THE KEYBOARD IS USELESS. There is no realistic way around this.Second- the Escape key is a tiny hard to find thing and will mock you as you search for it in your angriest of moments. Fear not, the mouse still works fine after you put the keyboard on the garbage disposal. (but the keyboard is not replaceable, soooo you would do well to see if someone only needs a mouse and start from scratch after giving the mouse to someone in need)

Great Keyboard
I received this today and was ready to use it immediately! Set up was easy but instructions were not clear. Since I already had a wireless keyboard and mouse, I knew what to do.The wireless keyboard that came with my desktop had already lost the lettering on many keys and what I typed was not represented accurately.Already, I can see that I don't have to worry that what I type will look like a newly created word. This keyboard is quiet, sturdy, typing is accurate. The mouse is bigger than my last one but it fits better in my hand and is also accurate. I haven't used them for gaming so I can't comment on that. I am very pleased with this purchase, esp since it is a Microsoft product and I know it will last long time and the lettering will not be erased with use.I like that I can elevate or use the keyboard flat. This is a good value for the money...the price is right.

Great keyboard, terrible mouse.
Tried out several different brands and styles of keyboards and this was the clear winner. The mouse SUCKS. But the keyboard has the keys I like. the right feel, great layout.**Update** I've had this keyboard for 6 years now and it still works flawlessly! I love the feel of the keys, the sound is satisfying without being super loud, and the layout is supreme. I am ordering a new one though, because I accidentally broke one of the feet off the back, and propping it up with something is just not cutting it. Also the letters have rubbed off most of the home keys, and while I am a skilled touch typist for 20+ years, sometimes for some things I have to look at the keyboard, and its a pain when the letters are not visible. Also this keyboard is absolutely disgustingly dirty, and some of the keys are very hard to clean around. So i'm throwing in the towel after nearly 7 years of use and buying the same model. I think I only had to put new batteries in it maybe three times over those 6 or 7 years. There is no on/off switch, but it's such a low powered thing that there's no reason for it to have one.My opinion on the mouse still stands. It's an absolutely unusable piece of junk that I literally threw out, because it's useless without the receiver.

Excellent buy at a discounted price
I bought this combo after returning another set made by another company that was erratic and undependable. I am very pleased with the performance of this keyboard and mouse. They are responsive, easy to install, smooth and dependable. They were on sale at a price that was less than the off brand.I recommend this wireless keyboard and mouse set.

Simple and well executed.
The native HDMI would not display on a rebuild. This solved the problem, but I will not return a problem solver. An invaluable problem solver.

My old keyboard and mouse were temperamental on good days and on bad days
I'm getting old (71) and losing ground at keeping up with product improvements. When Windows 10 was released, I jumped on the band wagon and upgraded my wife's and my computers to the Win 10 family. In the initial months of use, I had frequent bouts of hardware incompatibility trying to do the simplest of tasks with my aging peripherals. My old keyboard and mouse were temperamental on good days and on bad days, only good for a game of catch with one of my grandsons . This MS Wireless Desktop 850 was raring to get to work as soon as I opened the package, which (by the way) was thoroughly and promptly put together. Everything is co pathetic and I have experienced no hardware or software incompatibility.I am a happy camper!

A Good-Enough Keyboard / Mouse Combo but Lacking Some Key Features
The keyboard and mouse combo are comfortable to use, absolutely trivial to set up, and a nice layout including microsoft specific keys. I love that I only need to take up 1 USB port for both keyboard and mouse. It's a relatively inexpensive and good-enough combo, but lacks some features that would make it great: 1) it is not backlit, 2) there is no switch to turn it off to save the battery when it is not being used, and 3) there are no caps lock or num lock lights to indicate that they are turned on or not. Supposedly there is a low-battery indicator, but since I have fresh batteries, I don' know what that will look like.So if you are satisfied without those items, then you will be satisfied with this combo.
