This should get an Academy Award
Seriously, this deserves an Academy Award, perhaps in the Best Documentary Feature or Short Subject categories. It's a breathtaking whirlwind intimate journey across the world of the late 1800's and early 1900's. It might have been more aptly titled: "Around the World in 4 - Dimensions." Not only does it have the wonderful, embracing depth of 3D viewed in crisp detail in blu-ray, it also slices across space-time (the 4th dimension). It's just a fascinating look at the immense changes occurring in that time period: particularly the horse and buggies transition into "horseless carriages." Particularly striking are the children caught in ageless poses: now ghosts long-dead. The breadth of visual feasts and excellent 3D is just amazing. Also, the progression is brisk but not blistering, allowing a moment to savor each presentation as wonderful pans keep everything interesting and moving. All the time the viewer is wrapped up in excellent period music plus great sound effects, making you feel you are actually there, not just looking at a 3D photo. Also, being broken up in 15 different shorts, it's easy to savor: watching a few then picking it up later. This time-travel immersive journey was so fascinating I almost watched it all in one sitting, but gave up. There were just too many stunning visuals, many worthy of pawing through the details by freezing that particular projection. This is no quick knock-off to get a few bucks in the "dying" 3D blu-ray market, but a true work of art loving and expertly accomplished. Projected onto a large wall screen in excellent 3D with full surround sound turned up high, this is an amazing trip worth every penny of the purchase price. It's worth watching many times over. I eagerly await the next installment from Helicon. Bravo!

The Best 3D Movie Ever and it is not Even a Movie
The producer-director of this 3D Blu-ray deserves an Oscar in the documentary category. I have been an avid collector of 3D movies for more than two decades - and this is the first one I began watching a second time the day after I completed my first viewing - and it is almost 4 hours. This movie takes you back in time more than 100 years - full 3D images - most in color - all the way back to the Civil War. In most cases the images - even the stop-motion - are tack sharp. It is as if you are really there experiencing the people and reality of the world more than a century ago - and many of the great historical events and leaders are part of this.

Excellent use of 3d brings 100 year old images to life.
This is labeled episode 3 in the series although I never saw the second after enjoying the first covering the civil war.. Initially the first several segments of the current series were playing in a 2d presentation, not sure why. This may be due to the fact that both 3d and 2d presentations are on the same disc, confusing the player. The accompanying score and sound effects add to the experience, unlike the first edition on the civil war. The current installment is highly recommended for 3d enthusiasts.

A fascinating and excellently produced show!!
If you're an enthusiast of 3D movies or virtual reality you owe it to yourself to be aware of the rich history of 3D. 3D photos have been around as long as photography itself. This disc shows you A TON of these beautiful, historic vintage images, in perfect 3D high resolution. This is the closest thing to time travel you're every likely to experience in your lifetime! Check out the other one too, with Civil War images. They're both top notch.

Not a professional release. Beware
I got pulled in by all the over the top reviews saying how quality this was. I love 3D and I enjoy history. I used to be an archivist and worked with stereo graphs like these. I was really excited to see them brought to life in 3D. Unfortunately this isn’t a professional release. Every image wipes in and out with some very jerky default animation and added hokey text. It’s almost like they were fed into a windows 98 slideshow and added some slides from a PowerPoint for good measure. I was really excited about this but it isn’t up to par. One of the 3D rarities blu rays has 3D photography taken by Harold Lloyd. If you want to see history brought to life, check that out. Don’t be pulled in by misguided reviews saying that it should win an Oscar. It looks like that old web host geocities brought to life in 3D.

It is ok
If you like 3D still pictures, it delivers. It is not much else. However, it didn't say it is anything else.
