What is the width inside at the bottom. Is six inches or is it less?

I'm only estimating here but I would say the inside dimension is slightly less than 6". It is a starter tackle box that is roughly 6"h x 6"w x 14"l. Hope that helps. Keep in mind I am only estimating. Maybe the manufacturer can provide the exact dimensions.

How much space is there between the bottom of the box and the bottom of the tray?

About 2.5 inches. We just took out the tray and my grandson uses it as a toolbox

I think the chocolate bars will fit fine, but you won't be able to fit a stack of graham crackers in the top, it's too shallow. Also you may want to consider the heat of the environment you're going into. Unless you put an ice pack in with the chocolate or insulate it, it may melt and make a mess. A wide mouthed thermos might be a better bet.
