It is a soft, but not weak or thin, fabric, not neoprene. It seems quite breathable. I do pull my drive out while using it, but other plugged in items that stay in the pockets do not feel exceptionally hot, just.. "normal plugged in hot"?

It's got a sticky back, I wouldn't really expect it to hold up to too many repeated attachment's and removals.
