"Mediacom" TiVo remote being sold as a standard Tivo remote.
While functionally identical to the standard TiVo remote, the one being sold here has "Mediacom" logo on it plus an extra "on demand" button that will not work on a regular TiVo. Everything else works, but these details are not depicted either in the products picture or the description. The remote in the picture is similar to but different from the one in the description. While I may be willing to accept these features if the price was right, I would want to know about it BEFORE completing the purchase!

RF and IR from same remote
The RF portion (to communicate with the Tivo box) works just like it does on RF-only remotes. But in addition, the IR portion allows me to turn the TV (Panasonic) on and off and change input, and to mute / control volume on the receiver (Yamaha). Setup is time consuming (need to scroll through the entire alphabet to get to "Yamaha", for example), but the on-screen explanations are sufficient.I was not able to turn the receiver on or off, though. This means, we have to use our older universal remotes just to switch power for the receiver. After that, the peanut remote is all we need. Certainly worth the price.

EXACT REPLACEMENT
Sooner or later everything breaks down, and my remote did just that. This was an exact replacement of the one that came with my TiVo, and subsequently quit. Been using the replacement for months now; no problems. However, if I drop it, or if the cat knocks it off the table the cover pops off and batteries fly under the sofa as it hits the hard wood floor! If you have carpet, not a problem, but I have wood floors., so I taped the back cover on and problem solved! LOL

Too bad that it feels the same even when it's pointed backwards
I'd make quite a few changes to the layout if I was designing this remote. It's hard to imagine why they put some of the more obscure functions in the most easy to access places, also, many of the buttons are the same size and it's almost impossible to feel if the remote is oriented in the forward facing position without feeling the buttons.

Didn't last a day ... wait a minute is it my batteries?
Dead. Put batteries in it. Then went to use it and it was dead. Put fresh batteries in it. Still dead. Exchanging it for a replacement. If the replacement works then I'll bump my rating.Sent my remote in for a replacement, which arrived very quickly. Put my "fresh" batteries in the remote but it too was dead. Sooooo ... i grabbed my volt meter and discovered that my batteries were way under nominal voltage. Most of them were 1/2 the advertised voltage. So, I bought new batteries and recycled my "fresh" batteries. Remote works just fine. Moral of the story is ... know your batteries.BTW ... I think this DOA problem would go away if the seller would ship these new remotes with batteries.

TiVo Roamio Remote a Win-Wn for my TiVo Premiere
I actually had experience with this remote from a TiVo Roamio I have in my living room. Its remote is smaller than the one I'm replacing for my TiVo Premiere and works very well with it, so when the Premiere's remote started giving me problems (double clicking when I was pushing certain buttons just once) getting this updated remote was a no-brainer. I don't know if it's just my imagination, but the Premiere seems to respond to the newer remote more quickly. I have no idea if changing to the new remote altered or updated the software on the Premiere so it would accept it, but my purchase of an updated remote for my older TiVo DVR has been a win-win! Good price on the purchase, as well.

"Cutting the Cord" was an easy decision...and a smart one.
Found myself paying $92/mo to watch local channels with my Dish Network DVR. Don't do VOD, HBO, etc., and watch movies via Netflix. Bought my Tivo Roamio OTA and a decent antenna and am thrilled. I will recover my "investment" in 4.5 months and enjoy functionality equal to and, in most cases, better than D.N. I get H.D. without paying anything for it, and my Netflix functionality is embedded into the Tivo O.S. I'm down to only one remote (PTL!) and love being able to "skip" commercial breaks on programs that have that feature in them. Lifetime "TV Guide" subscription means $0 cost going forward.

It works great!
We got it and immediately went thru to sync it with our television. It worked perfectly. The one we could not get to work any longer was off to one side, so we went thru the syncing again with it and it started working perfectly again. Now we have two sync ‘d to the television. Makes it so much better for my husband and I to each have one to change channels, run past the ads, etc.
