It looks pretty nice but was dull as dishwater out of the box. No amount of stropping was able to sharpen it and I had to use a ceramic sharpener to set the edge. However, once I did that and ran it across the strop about 20 laps, it cut the hair off of my forearm like a hot knife through butter. Will be testing on my face tonight. We'll see if it holds an edge. It seems to be of high quality; but you may need to invest in a whetstone or other sharpening device.UPDATE: It still wasn't sharp enough and I had to invest in a $12 sharpening stone. I used the stone to get it as sharp as possible and stropped it a few times. Took the hair off of my neck under the chin and then lost it's edge. So I stropped it for about 50 more laps and it held it's edge to give me a fine, complete shave. The key is getting that razor edge and then stropping liberally and correctly before and after use. In conclusion, it's a great product; but you'll need to put the time and effort into getting it functional. It's a great razor for beginners like myself. Don't send it back because it's dull and isn't working. Half the fun is getting it functional and maintaining it. IMPORTANT: throw that leather travel case in the garbage. It will tarnish the metal very quickly.

It is a thing of beauty. Well worth the price. I don't have much experience but I don't think it was necessarily shave ready as advertised. I was able to shave well enough, but the process came with tugs and uncomfortable glances here and there that I don't normally experience with my other (lower quality) straight razor. Could be me adjusting to the new blade. It's much heavier than what I'm used to; I love that.No worries, though. It was sharp enough to do the trick and it's not as if you should send a blade back just because you need to pass it on whetstone or strop before the next shave. I see a few fools in these sections starting as much. Shame on them. Lazy bastards.

Bought to replace my damascus razor that i was using for the last year. Was a present from my wife of both of them. She loves to watch me shave and am holding off on using it til she has time to enjoy the show.

My first straight razor and it's great. I'm happy I got it.

Absolutely love the razor. Only issue for me is that it wasn't exactly ready for shaving coming out of the box. Felt a little rough but putting it through the strop I bought for it immediately remedied that issue.

2nd update:Unfortunately the "honing" was a placebo it shaved just OK and will not keep an edge. I would like to return it but Amazon's latest policy won't allow me to. Wasted my money!Update: The company replied to my original review and offered to have the razor honed at their expense. Which I agreed to- the razor was only gone a little over a week, it came back nicely honed I have used it since and believe it will work much better. Customer service was excellent and responded quickly to all my questions. I was very happy and pleased by their outstanding service.Thank you!Disappointed in the razor, it is comfortable to use had a nice weight and the quality seems good for the price. However, most importantly it is not honed properly and will not hold an edge. Too bad
