perfect therapy ball
delightful ball recommended by my therapist to help me regain function in my hand. I love how it feels - squishy but solid. Put in the microwave for nice warmth. Great buy.

Makes a Good Fidget Toy. May or May Not Suit Someone with Arthritis.
I purchased the Thera-Band Hand Exerciser for a family member who has arthritic hands and wanted a fidget toy. She thought a ball might work because it doesn't require as much dexterity as typical fidget toys. I chose the yellow extra soft version. It is 2 inches in diameter and comfortable in an average woman's hand. She used the ball successfully for several months, but it eventually aggravated her arthritis. You don't need much strength to squeeze the extra soft ball, but whether or not it will suit someone with arthritis will depend on the individual. If dropped on the floor, the ball quickly becomes encrusted with all sort of particles and in need of washing. Washing the ball removes the powder coat, however, and makes it quite sticky. Be sure to let the ball fully dry on a smooth surface that it can easily be peeled off of, such as a countertop. You'll want to replace the powder coat, as a washed ball is too sticky to use. To do this, coat the palms of your hands with a thin, barely perceptible layer of talc or similar powder. Rub them together to remove excess. Then roll and knead the ball in your hands until it is no longer sticky.

Excellent therapy
Recommended by my occupational therapist after wrist surgery -- worked great, and I keep one around to squeeze when my job is annoying.

Wonderfully soft but became sticky after contact with carpet
This ball is incredibly soft and is great if you have an injury like tennis elbow and are looking for a ball that you can really squeeze without causing a lot of pain. If you use a harder ball, you can still squeeze it as softly as you want but it won’t depress and you don’t get the same range of motion and muscle activation as with this ball. Now the bad news. I left the ball on a carpet and it reacted chemically to the carpet and became extremely sticky, as if the outer coating had worn off on the area where it contacted the carpet. The ball became almost unusable unless I positioned it so that my hand avoided the sticky spot, which was very difficult. Then I tried putting some tissue over the sticky spot. The tissue adhered to and covered the sticky spot, so it was no longer unpleasant to touch the ball.If you are very careful about where you leave the ball, you shouldn’t have this problem. If it does become sticky, you can deal with the problem by putting tissue over the sticky part. I have a small concern that the sticky insides will eventually come out through the seam in the ball, but that hasn’t happened yet. Overall, I’d recommend buying it if you want a really soft ball and can’t find a more durable one, but be aware that it may have a limited life if it comes in contact with something that reacts chemically to the coating of the ball and exposes the sticky material inside it.Update: I bought a second one so that I could exercise both hands simultaneously and save time. I didn't leave it lying on a carpet and it didn't deteriorate like the last one. I also bought a Theraband ball with the next higher level of resistance (soft, red) since I'm recovering from my tennis elbow. I still like to use the yellow ones sometime since you can squeeze them really flat which gives good range of motion for your hand exercises.
