Update: the bell gets muted when wet. For a device designed to make noise, this is a big issue in the rain. Water seems to build up inside the bell in inclement weather and completely deadens the sound.This thing is magic! No more yelling at the top of my lungs to pass a pedestrian blasting Taylor Swift through their Apple earbuds, and no more "wft, I'm so confused, which way do I step, ahh I'm going to get run over by a bicycle...?!" None of this Gandalfian "you shall not pass" bullsh*t. This is the one ring to rule them all. A couple flicks of the thumb lever and the seas part. People magically and calmly step aside and gladly let me roll on by. I was concerned that the bell might jingle while bouncing over curbs and such, but no. The Benran Bicycle Bell is the love child of Kung Fu Mantis and a Canadian sniper, silently surveying the landscape until that moment when you must clear the road ahead.

I bought two of these bells. One broke within a week the other within 15 minutes. These bells are for kids and if you child's bike falls over and hits the bell the metal top pops off. When I tried to reattach it on the pin mechanism I discovered that one of the two plastic pins had broken and therefore the bell can't be reattached and it's useless. And get this, both bells broke in the exact same place-the plastic knobs that keep the bell attached to the internal mechanism If they had cost more I would have returned them but at 6.50 it's not worth my time and effort.

For the price, these bells work great. They are a little on the cheap side material wise, but the price versus a quality bell makes the tradeoff worth it when buying one for each member of the family. You will need to adjust the nut on the top for the preferred ring. The bell will get the attention of anyone in your way even when they are wearing headphones.

The Benran Cool All Copper Bell is not made of copper. Heck, it's not even made of brass. What you see in the picture is not what you get. The one they sent me is made of gold colored anodized aluminum. If you're looking for a functional bell with a decent gong, this will work, but it's not what the ad says it is. I saw the ad and thought this would go great with the copper rivets on the seat of my vintage bike. It's not worth sending back, so I'll just chalk it up to experience.

Got this for my hybrid bike to ride on the greenways. Will not stay on tight, after 2 rides I had to retighten it. Does not work well either. Seems like it binds itself when you use it. I tried oiling it with no change. Tried light grease also to no avail. Save your money. Don't buy this junk.

To those who post negative reviews: you can't have a $8 bell and expect a $30 construction. It does what it says, and it works just fine. One star off for the design flaw: the retaining screw needs to be a little stronger. It's a plastic body so it's easy to overtighten it.

I feel safer with this bell when I ride on the trail. The bell rings clear and loud enough. The only thing I don't like is the location of the lever. I was never able to find a natural spot for my hand.

UPDATE:The seller contacted me to offer a new bike bell. I have not received the new bell yet to verify the new product is more reflective of the description, but the seller made it sound as if it would be corrected. I appreciated the responsive customer service, and I'm hopeful the new bell will be smaller, as described.ORIGINAL:This is nowhere near "mini." It said it was small, but it's actually a massive 3-4" bell which is impractical and heavy for any biker. The description is inaccurate.
