I would always hand wash this pan to preserve its beauty and functionality.
This roasting pan is perfect for turkeys and other big meals. I used to have this same kind of pan but gave it away when I thought I wouldn’t need it anymore. I am so happy with this and how it fits in the oven so well.

Great, affordable roaster can do more than just turkeys!
We got this roaster just a couple of months ago and it's not even Thanksgiving yet, but we've already put it into good use. We have a standard-sized oven and it fits great in there, and we love how deep and large this roaster is. It's pretty light-weight but sturdy, which is great since I don't really think it helps to have a heavy pan that is so large in the first place. We've also used it for several other purposes and it has worked fantastically, like melting a LARGE batch of chocolate (for a large chocolate dessert) and boiling 5 dozen eggs at once (for an Easter egg hunt). It's also pretty easy to clean (even after melting 35 pounds of chocolate in it!). I don't see why I would spend more on all the other roasters out there when this one is so affordable and works so well. I highly recommend it!

Love, Love, Love this roasting pan!,,, A must have.
This roaster is exactly what I was looking for. I purchased it for my Christmas and Thanksgiving turkeys. I always cook 20+ pound birds and they fit perfectly. The pans came really well wrapped and arrived on time. This is a two piece set and with the handles on the ends you can actually use both pieces to cook in. On a side note, the roaster fills the oven; so when you want to take it out, pull the rack out to access the handles. If not, you run the risk of burning yourself and then dropping a huge pan of food.I use the bottom alone for my turkey because I use a cooking bag. I have also roasted a 22 lb ham in this unit and it came out perfectly. If you are looking for a blemish free piece of cookware, don't go with Granite Ware. It is old fashioned cookware that lasts forever, but it isn't always pretty. My original piece is 20+ years old and still going strong. We have used the new pans three or four times and have noticed no defects that would interfere with cooking use. Easy to clean and top stores nestled in bottom. I bought two because once you have it you will find all types of cooking uses for it. I have trouble keeping them at home because my children are always borrowing them. Just remember, they are not only big, they are huge. Just what every holiday chef needs for those large family get togethers.

Chip in roaster, returning. Poor product packaging/handling may be to blame.
Mine came with a chip in the surface, exposing the bare metal. I’m in the process of sending it back, and won’t buy another. I would guess the reason so many reviews mention chips in the roaster is due perhaps to poor product protective wrapping at the manufacturer, combined with how they may be handled and stacked in the warehouse. Either that, or really poor quality control at the manufacturer.WMT has the next size granite ware container for roughly $12. I may get that one, but it won’t roast a 22lb turkey. The easy alternative is to cook a 12 pounder the day before the holiday, carve and refrigerate it in a covered dish with juices for servicing, and a second in the same pan the day of the holiday. I have a 25+ year old large roaster the size of this one. It’s covering is dark blue v black. But, it’s metal is much sturdier and heavier. Unfortunately, it dropped in the garage and has a chip in it. I wish I could find a replacement, but they probably don’t make them like they used to.The granite ware roaster the next size down at Walmart is lighter weight. It’s a step up from the cheapo aluminum bottom pan roaster you could buy at a grocery, and will last longer of course. But I may shop around for a little better quality than graniteware, including the usual stores (BBB, Williams Sonoma, etc.), and some professional kitchen supply stores. Any recommendations, including if it might make sense to buy a recommended tabletop roaster (to free up oven space for the other holiday goodies), would be welcomed.

Fits a 30 lbs Turkey !
This pan replaces one I had that my mom used through many years. It is everybit as sturdy and even better designed because of the side handles and the matching top!Looking forward to many years of use.

A Nice Roaster
Here is the story:My grandmother gave her big oval enamel roaster that looked just like this one to my mother about 30 years ago (and she had it for a long time before that). That thing was a tank that lasted forever and worked great, until my brother-in-law dropped it a 'few' times in the driveway and the two pieces no longer fit together and the coating was chipping off.Since it was time to get a new roaster, the only change I wanted to make was to jump up to rectangular so that more space was available inside. This one holds a 22 lb turkey on a rack without any problems, and it does a beautiful job on the bird.I really wanted to be able to give 5 stars, but I couldn't. When I picked up the roaster with the bird in it, the handles bent/flexed slightly under the load, and the enamel popped off of the inside of the roaster behind the weld locations for the handles. There are now 4 dime sized locations where you can see down to the steel, but at least they will be well above the water line. I think the handles have stabilized at their new locations, so it should last for years (I hope!). Structurally I can see how the oval style roaster would be less susceptible to flexing than the rectangular roaster. If I have to do it again, I will probably go oval and hope that my rack will still fit - but I would stick with this company.Pro - Made in the USA

Not very thick or strong around the handles
I really wanted this pan to work, but the way it was packaged caused the handles on the lid to bend and pull away from the pan, creating a hole. Needed to use both the lid & the pan for roasting, and the damaged handles made it impossible, so item was returned & a different (stainless steel) pan was purchased.
